I was sending an email to the admissions officer who reads applications from my state telling him that I have become a National Merit Finalist because I was hoping it would help my application, except instead of Lehigh, I accidentally wrote Georgetown… I realized my mistake and sent out another email 30 minutes later (it took a while to draft) profusely apologizing.
Do you think they would reject me because of this? It was an honest mistake and I’m devastated because Lehigh was one of my top choices and it would be heart breaking if I was rejected because of that typo =((
wungles,
Hey, this is not the first time someone made that mistake! You are applying regular decision, right? Every applicant has to have a list of prospective schools. Admission officers love the kids they work with. No one is going to hold a mistake anyone at any age could make at anytime!!! I know this is a stressful time. Please me kind to yourself about this error!!! Hang in there!!!
Thank you for your words of encouragement! (yeah I applied regular)
I know i’m not the only one to make this mistake because I went to a lehigh visit and the admissions officer talked about how this kid’s mom called the office and demanded to know why her son didn’t get into Lehigh when he got into Cornell, and when the officer checked the kid’s record, his essay ended with “And that’s why I want to go to Cornell” and he figured, well if he wants to go to Cornell he can go to Cornell, he doesn’t have to come to Lehigh
I’m just worried they would have that same mindset about me :-S
Do not worry. Even if you worry about it, you have nothing that you can do about it. So just relax.
