Wrote wrong school in essay.

I just submitted my Wake application, and they require seven essays. In the final essay--last sentence, I accidently called Wake GWU. Is this fatal? I caught it a day after the due date and sent an apology email, as well as an apology/explanation letter along with a revised copy of the essay. What is likely to happen. Will it affect my chances at admission?

It's the worst single mistake you could make in an essay (not kidding).

was it why wake? if not, it's probably okay. or at least more okay.

I took a class at Brown this past summer, and during my stay I attended an interesting seminar dealing with college admissions and essays.

One of the speakers, a Brown admissions officer, basically said that the worst thing you could do in an essay is print the wrong school's name.
"...And that's why I've always wanted to go to Stanford."

Obviously, you noticed the mistake and sent in an apology, so I don't know how the school will react.
But yeah... Just my two cents.
Good luck.

It's not good (not kidding).

I wouldn't say it's an automatic rejection, but it's near it.

It should make you feel better to know that there's another thread just today (and many from the past) from someone who made a similar slip. With a little luck, you'll get a humane reader with a sense of humor. I suspect that they've all seen this before; it's not as if adcoms don't realize that students recycle their essays, retouching them slightly for each school.

I go to Dartmouth now, so I doubt they think I'm clueless and stupid simply for writing a wrong name.

glucose are you like in high school or college or an adult or what

You're applying as a tranfer out of Dartmouth to Wake Forest and GW ?

in the other post (was it yours? I know you posted this twice) one of the college reps said it's not that big of a deal. so don't worry.

yeah haha. I'm wondering why has that been so hard for everyone to believe. Dartmouth isnt super super great--I mean it's reputation is great and all, but Hanover is far away from anything like internships and other opportunitites, so you really have to want to go to Dartmouth for what it is, not just for its rep. And the classes were a lot like high school ones for the most part, idk if thats the fault of my high school or dartmouth haaha

what do you like high school? like fixed schedule everyday?
