This includes UC app, private colleges, CSS, and FAFSA
WHAT DO I DO

write letters to all of them saying that the SSN you wrote was wrong (tell them the wrong SSN if you can), tell them your correct SSN, and give them other proof to verify what you're saying is true such as your birthday, address, or school, etc.

Will this negatively affect admissions????

My brother did this 35 years ago, and he was accepted. His SSN all thru college was 000-00-0001 for registration. Obv no financial aid was involved. It's an honest mistake....I don't think it will hurt your chances. Let them know asap though...esp fafsa and css

Ok, but if I correct it on my FAFSA and CSS, will I still get financial aid considerations?

My D did that last year. No repercussions yet. No FA, applied for, though.

bay, of course. Just let them know tomorrow.

arg so Shrink, your d applied for FA but didnt get any?? Was it for any reason besides the SSN problem?

Sorry. That's why I corrected it. She didn't apply for financial aid, so I don't know if she's a good example.

OK thanks for the response though
