I was wondering if getting a W in one of my major prep classes [Calc ll] would affect my chances for the TAG agreement?
I dont feel like I will get a good grade and would like to drop it then retake it next semester when Im more prepared.
Hi! I’m trying to tag Irvine as well, totally different major though lol.
The thing about Ws is that… they’re never good. But then again, neither is a D or an F, especially for a major specific course. If your school offers it, you could always do Academic Renewal (take the class again, if u get a better grade it erases the old grade from gpa, still on transcript tho with an ‘academic renewal’ notation).
In my opinion a W would be better in this case, because they’re looking at your current Fall16 grades as an indicator of your academic strength a year prior to transfer. But then again the ideal situation would be to try to get a decent grade.
I think getting a W later in ur academic career is probably worse than getting one in your earlier career. In the latter scenario they can see if you’ve ‘recovered’ etc… doing it now, just a year prior to transfer, is probably not the best choice because it shows uncertainty, unreliability, etc.
Semester just started so imo just try to stick through it and then maybe f I get an iffy grade just do academic renewal next spring if time permits… hope my input was helpful.
