WSU BFA Acting vs MT

My D was accepted to WSU for BFA Acting. She auditioned for MT but during the audition they asked if she was interested in Acting also. She is an excellent dancer and a pretty good vocalist so she would like to continue training in those areas. Can anyone give me first hand knowledge the difference in the two programs at WSU? She is trying to decide on a BFA Acting at WSU or a BA MT at another school. She attended the master class the day before the audition and we saw “Light in the Piazza” which was very good. She loved all the faculty and everyone was very welcoming. I think she would like to say yes to the WSU BFA Acting but she does not want to give up the singing and dancing. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi! Sorry this response is a bit late in the game to influence your D’s college decision. I just thought I would respond in case other parents or students have the same concerns about Wright State’s program.
I am a recent grad of Wright State’s MT program. One of the things I always loved about WSU is how well-rounded and integrated the program is, regardless of your emphasis. Acting and MTs take exactly the same classes until spring Sophomore year. Actors are required to take voice lessons from the same faculty the MTs take from and can opt to take the full hour instead of the half hour required. Actors can also take several dance classes. And if they are truly talented in dance, they may even have to opportunity to take class through the Dance department. Actors take 1 quarter of Musical Theatre Acting, compared to the 3 quarters that MTs get, but they also get to take a lot of interesting movement and speech classes that MTs don’t often take. Also, Actors get cast in musicals and MTs get cast in plays. It’s really a great program. I’m very happy with the training I got at Wright State.
I hope this is helpful.
Good luck to your D as she starts college!
