anyone know of this program? I am very interested and live in Canada (right across the border from Detroit and Wayne State).

So, what kind of 'stats' would I be looking at trying to achieve to get into such a program? Would anyone care to take an educated guess of SAT/ACT scores, SAT IIs, class rank, GPA and so on of what a typical student that gets into this program would have?

I know all students at such programs have awesome stats, but I mean, WSU MedStart isn't as renowned as Northwestern's program and other top ones. So, I would like to see stats geared towards this program.

Also, since I am international, I guess I would need to be a little more competitive than the average accepted US citizen.

I interviewed at Wayne State in early March 2010, and there were a lot of students from Toronto… I’m not sure how they got around the citizen/perm res requirement (green cards probably?), but you should def call & find out!! gluck:)

your allowed to apply and everything if you are canadian, you are just not allowed to be entitled for that presidential scholarship if you are indeed accepted.

^and aleisha, really? a lot of toronto kids? i would’ve never guessed.

Also, if anyone was accepted to this program could you post stats/PM me stats? I would like to know what I need to have a really good shot at this program since it is very, very ideal (location, cost…good neighbor policy=instate tuition, good med school, etc.)

“MedStart **applicants must ** be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Our specialized pre-professional programs are open to all students, but financial aid only is available to U.S. citizens. Non-Michigan residents must pay out-of-state tuition and fees. Students who are not citizens of the United States are not eligible for scholarships offered during Scholars Day events at Wayne State University.”

The pre-professional programs (i.e. Pre-med, etc.) which can be done at any university, is not the same as the MedStart program. However, both the MedStart track and pre-professional program track are offered through the Honors College at Wayne State. According to the above, to apply specifically to their guaranteed Bachelor/MD program (MedStart), you have to be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.

i called them + emailed Nancy G., and she was kind enough to let me know that Canadians are fully allowed into MedStart. She did say, however, that only 1 Canadian in the past 5 years has gotten in, but you never know. SO, I am 100% sure.

Does anyone know/can post stats that would likely get me into the group interview stage for MedStart please?
