you need to chill out...if you love the school that much, write admissions a rational letter about why Cornell is the place for you. deferred isn't the end of the World, you still have as much a shot as the regular applicants, who are usually less qualified, as a whole, than the ED ones. good luck, and seriously, relax.

waitlist admit... deferral admit is like 40%

oh THANK GOD...thanks for saying that...2% wooooahhh thats not HIGH ENOUGH!!! hah

that's like saying the people that were fairly qualified in the first round aren't nearly as qualified in the second round of admins

Nicky, your scores are kind of low..especially for RD...I would defintely not get my hopes up at one place...its not healthy..

Why do you say that?!?! I know they are LOW but a lot of people have said I am "well within the range" :(

"Don't worry...if you get rejected, it may actually be a blessing in disguise. Cornell is extremely competitive, and you may not have enjoyed it once you actually got there. Going to a less competitive school sometimes is the best thing that can happen. At least you'll still have pride left....many of the best students I know have failed miserably at Cornell. It's scary."

^ I totally agree. I probably fall under that category... I went to Cornell for engineering and now I am looking for any possible way out after my first semester. The intensity and competition of Cornell is not a myth. In hs I was 2nd in my class with 1520 sats. The first time I took them I got at 1300 and about mid-way through October I was wishing I had never retaken them so that I wouldn't have been admitted... so getting rejected might not be a bad thing... btw, I had a 650 chem satII I submitted and was still admitted... don't freak out you still have a good chance, but I personally wish I had been rejected.

:( Hmm that is an interesting way to look at it...I guess I probably do kind of idealize CORNELL but I REALLY REALLY want to go there & a lot of people I know who have gone there have loved it, so I guess it is probably just the person. IDK but thanks for the advice :)

i had a 660 chem and got in ed, however i was just notified that my score went up second testing to 700.

good luck.

the top 10% of my public school scores 1500+ on sati. second in my class got 3900 (1500+800+800+800)
i got 1490 and fall into the top 11-12%
i dont think i have a point...eh

nicky: i liked how you ended your first post in this thread with "<3Nicky". you seemed ****ed (and i bet you were/are), but you still managed a "<3Nicky" at the end. kidna unexpected

don't worry, 49% of people who retake the SATs get a lower score.

wow cornell accepts that many of their deferrals? i thought it would be much lower since the RD pool is much more competitive (ie harvard, yale, mit rejects or w/e).....

I don't know if you've considered this.. But plan B could always be to go to a state school and then transfer to Cornell? If it's really your dream, you'll make it happen in time..
