@littlechild thanks! I just checked the website, and it says you can ask starting on Apr.1 but not before that, so I guess I should just make a decision
@hani1120 That sucks! Most of the programs I applied to will notify me in April. Oh no. What did you end up doing?
@hani1120 Good luck with your decision! I’m sure you’ll make the right one.
@hani1120 I hope everything works out! I’m in the same situation. I got into another program too and it’s a great program but WTP is definitely my first choice. I need to make a commitment by April 9, so I guess I’ll email WTP on April 3 or something.
Do you guys think that emailing them about for my status will lower my chance for admission since they think I have another summer program to go to?
@time_lord114 I would hope not.
yeah I’m applying to a bunch of other programs too and I might be able to get an internship at Columbia Medical Center but I’m worried that the WTP results come out too late for them to offer me an internship
Hey guys! Class of '17 here! Last year, I was in your shoes. I anxiously waited my decision for WTP, only to be heartbroken later on when I was not accepted. I wasn’t accepted to any other summer programs either and I thought I would not think I would have a chance at MIT.
However, I have good news. I was accepted to the MIT Class of 2021! So don’t worry. Not attending a summer program will not affect your chances at getting into an elite university.
Sorry if there are typos. I wrote this in a hurry, but let me know if you have any questions!
Oh, I almost forgot…Best of luck to all of you!
@fantasyreader congrats!! :) hope you have a good time at MIT
@Bluemist I haven’t sent them confirmation yet:( so hard to make a decision
@littlechild thanks! I’m still struggling to make a decision
@time_lord114 I was thinking about the same thing… But my confirmation deadline is 3/30 so I don’t even have a chance to ask them anyway… Hope it won’t hurt you
I was literally checking this post everyday without logging in, so I didn’t even know people actually replied :))
Kinda out of topic but it’s interesting to see how more and more people applied every year, and competition increases since they are still selecting 60 only. And this year the acceptance rate is comparable to that of a decent college, 60 out of 600+…
@hani1120 i just got accepted to BU RISE’s internship track today… same dilemma as you now… they want an answer within two weeks but I still have three admissions decisions I am waiting on including WTP…
I got an MIT researcher as my mentor for RISE as well… so i am very tempted…
One more month!
When I sent in my application I only had my scores for the PSAT, and they wasn’t very good. I also think I’m the only person who has every applied to this program from my school. Do you think it will ruin my chances of getting in?
Just realized my grammar was so bad I posted this quickly in my two minutes of spare time during class.
@hockeynerd19 i only submitted psat scores (750 math 680 reading) because i havent taken sat or act yet (pretty late i know oops) and i think im the only person from my school too. i dont know whether this will affect our chances but it’s nice to have someone in the same boat
