Resident of Colorado. 3.95 UW GPA . WUE COA is not a problem.
SAT 1420/ ACT 33
What schools are good for a future doctor? Focusing on “in-state” or “WUE” for a Biology major/ premed.
Schools with an attached medical center make the most sense so you have more opportunities for medical volunteering, shadowing, and research. Have you looked at schools near Colorado’s medical school?
Arizona doesn’t give a WUE discount, but has merit for good grades and scores. They recalculate your core GPA for this chart.

In State CU Denver is the one with access to the medical school.
UNM offers WUE, Colorado Reciprocal and Amigo Scholarships. Hospital and med school on the north side of main campus.
And with your GPA/SAT, you’d be eligible for the Regents Scholarship–full tuition plus room & board. But applications are due by Dec 1. Hurry if you’re interested.

Also, what about UC-Colorado Springs? CU SOM has a medical campus there as well as in Aurora.
Truthfully, just about any college in the US offers the coursework needed for med school. Getting the necessary ECs–shadowing, community service, clinical volunteering, research experience–that’s all on the student. Most colleges–even smallish LACs-- have research opportunities. (And if not, there are a plethora of summer research programs). Clinical experiences does not need to be done at hospital, and especially not at Level 1 research hospital. (Hospices, nursing homes, long term care facilities, community health clinics, Planned Parenthood all may offer more meaningful clinical volunteer service opportunities than handing out magazines to people waiting in the ER at university hospital. Less competition for those volunteer slots too.) Community service with the less fortunate–that can be done anywhere.
UC Denver if you don’t mind the whole commuter vibe, but any school will do, pick based on fit.
Look for a residential college where you can get into the Honors college as well as Universities that don’t purposely “weed”.
Definitely run the NPC on Whitman, Occidental, Pitzer, UPuget Sound.
Among the WUE schools, I like Montana State, WWU, and Sonoma state.
How about Washington State University at Tri-cities? Any recommendations? Thanks everyone for your help!
As all the other up thread suggested, you can go to just about any 4 year college to take on premed and be successful. The key is high GPA and High MCAT in an environment that fit you. Go visit those schools that interest you and have your major, pick one you like with least cost.
A kid I know went to a self directed post bacc at a low level CSU and was able to be admitted into a Dental school.
