If I am selected to be a part of WUE in an out of state school, can I still get scholarships offered by that school?
Say for example I got into University of Hawaii’s WUE program. Would I still be eligible for any merit-based scholarships they would have offered me had I not been a part of WUE? Because as I understand WUE to work, I would basically be paying the same tuition as an in-state resident, but does that cancel out my opportunity for additional scholarships through the school?
You need to ask the various schools. For a long time, most WUE schools would not also award merit. Their thinking is that the WUE discount is all they can offer. However, some might give you some merit, if you would have received merit as nonWUE…but maybe only the differential.
So, if you could have gotten an OOS tuition waiver/merit award, that is larger than WUE so you could get that instead.
You need to email each scholarship office of the WUE schools that interest you.and ask what THEY do.
WUE is 150% of instate rates, not instate rates.
Check with each school. Some may allow stacking of some scholarships but not others. Wyoming, for example, does allow stacking of some department scholarships but does not allow stacking of WUE and the Rocky Mtn Scholars (which in some cases is as much as the WUE).
