Title says it all. Due to the cryptic/convoluted nature of how the programs are described at the three schools, can someone lay out for me the pros and cons of each (engineering-specific)? I am specifically look to do EE/artificial intelligence, if that changes anything. Thanks for the help!

I can’t say I know a ton about either Cal or NW’s engineering programs, but my dad is a professor at Wash U’s school of Electrical and Systems Engineering. He generally says that, despite their lack of an elite ranking, they do have some very good faculty and students, as well as some great opportunities. For what it’s worth, I know that the department has good connections with Lincoln Lab at MIT and often sends undergrads there for research over a summer.

For EE, go to Cal unless you really dislike it somehow. Otherwise, I’d go to NU.

However, from what I see of school rankings…UC-Berkeley is the obvious choice.

If you’re interested in AI work, it should be noted that on the more interdisciplinary end (computational linguistics, cognitive science, etc.) NU has a tremendously strong, cutting edge program. But I’d probably agree Berkeley is the more obvious choice unless you really want to go to NU.

Berkeley’s Engineering is much higher (in terms of rank) than NU.
I’m not entirely sure about WUSTL.
