WUSTL Class of 2017 RD Discussion

rejected 2280sat 2400sat2 3.88 GPA what the ****

Wowā€¦ I got inā€¦ this is extremely unexpected as I showed zero interest. I feel very mixed at the moment as I am not sure whether I deserved this place as much as those who wanted to get in so badly. Congratulations to those accepted and Iā€™m so sorry to those who were waitlisted or denied - from experience of applying last year and getting rejected from all US unis, I promise you that things do work out in the end but you just have to hang in there.

Wait listed:
32 ACT
3.95 GPA
Lots of community service
No demonstrated interest

Better than I expected!

Waitlisted  To be honest itā€™s really just sort of an ego-killer! I was accepted UChicago EA and wasnā€™t going to attend WUSTL anyway, but I will not be accepting a spot on waitlist so hopefully that gives you guys a slightly better chance!?:)

Stats:
-34 ACT (single sitting, took it once)
-3.95 GPA (4.4 Weighted I think?)
-Captain of 3 clubs for multiple years (ScienceO,OceanB,NHS)
-Captain of varsity sport
-Two research projects at local university
-Volunteering in hospital 200+ hrs ICU
-Work in hospital
-Board Member of Non-profit orgo
-Really competitive high school IB diploma (7 subject candidate)
-0 Demonstrated Interest  Never visited the school or went to an information meeting about it and never even replied to the interview email (forgot about it unfortunately haha)

I really hope that all of you get into the school that you want! You all deserve it!:)

Oh and I requested financial aid, UChicago estimated 42k in grants per year so Iā€™m assuming WUSTL would have been similar, idk if that means anything

Accepted! Washu was my #1 and i showed a ton of interested,
2200 sat, 3.7 gpa
IB Diploma

Congrats to all who got in!I was rejected after being deferred from ED.
32 ACT, tons of leadership, community service, demonstrated interest, etc.

JUST WONDERING:

Iā€™ve been told by many that if you need lots of financial aid, it lessens your chance of getting in. Iā€™d be curious if the majority of people who were waitlisted/rejected needed a lot of financial aid. Just throwing it out there.

I got in!! 10char

my EFC is 5k and i got in

34 ACT

@jaccrazzi
yeaā€¦ I really hope needing financial aid was why I was rejected. Then I would be more hopeful about need blind schools.

(My net price was $3k hahaā€¦)

Waitlisted o. O

For those that got waitlisted/rejected: Donā€™t lose hope for other schools! Iā€™ve been admitted early/likely letter to Stanford, Yale, and Columbia, yet was still waitlisted at WashU.

Daughter WL. Stats consistent with others also on WL; NMF, 2290 SAT single sitting, similar SAT IIs, excellent grades, ECs, etc. etc. No demonstrated interest. Sheā€™s already been accepted to schools that were higher on her list, which is particularly nice at this point.

Good luck to all who are still waiting. She couldnā€™t get in to Pathway using Firefox, but got in using IE on the second or third try.

Waitlisted. I need financial aid, but I think itā€™s more than that. WashU has a reputation for waitlisting loads of applicants to increase yield. Then again, it might just be that Iā€™m not what they want. Oh well. Iā€™ve already been accepted to one selective LAC and Iā€™m waiting on 10 other schools, so no biggie.

Congrats to everyone who got in!

@coolpillow It might be so. Are schools completely ā€œneed-blindā€ anyways?

@ccuser95 Thanks for that insight! I feel that WashU is very, very random in their selection and no on can really understand their rhyme or reason. Haha. Congratulations on your other acceptances!!! Truly incredible, canā€™t understand why WashU didnā€™t take you already :)

Waitlistedā€¦ 34 ACT, 3.89. I shouldnā€™t have expected more, I showed little to no interest.

Accepted. Stats later

Actually, I have time. 2140 Black male from NYC. No interest shown, so im shocked.

Did anyone get into WashU engineering

hahahaah when I saw ā€œThe Admissions Committee has decided to offer you a placeā€ I was so happy and then I saw ā€œon the waitlistā€¦ā€ lol :(

Waitlisted :/

Canā€™t believe how many CCers are getting W/L
