WUSTL ED 2019 Discussion

@miamimama5 but from prior years, decisions were up 4-6 days before the 15th. I think they’re mailed priority not because of people living in the US, but because there are also a lot of international applicants. They should also get their letters by the 15th. That makes the mailing date earlier.

@Acatalepsy lets hope so! the wait is agonizing

I’m like 90% sure that I got deferred but I can’t wait past Wednesday its killing me :frowning:

@littlemermaid why do you think you got deferred ?

what state/country is everyone from?

Illinois

Texas lol. I’ve been telling myself I got rejected for the past few weeks… but it still doesn’t quench this tiny little flame in me that wants to fantasize about the good life at WashU TT_TT its absolute torture. I think I’m gonna have a mental breakdown if decisions aren’t out by Wednesday

@miamimama5‌ Three other kids also applied ED from my school, and there are only 118 kids in my graduating class. (I go to a relatively small private school). The other girl who applied to the college of arts and sciences has better grades, scores and connections than me, and the two guys who applied to Olin are either more qualified or connected. Also, WashU has never accepted (at least according to Naviance) more than 4 kids from my school in a given year.

we are from miami…cuban and argentine descent . my kid is also havng a breakdown. @acatalepsy, hang in there… the only thing we all can do is wait. decisions have already been made. take a deep breath. i read your stats on the other thread and you seem to fit the profile… be strong!!

No matter. The news does not provide an accurate picture of what is going on right now in Ferguson anyway. There is a heavy contrast between the videos and images posted by people participating in / viewing the events there and what the news is showing. I can say that anyone on or near WashU is not in danger of being slapped with a protester’s cardboard sign.

Nonetheless, WashU is not very close to Ferguson in terms of other places in St. Louis. You’d have to walk quite a bit aways North to get to Ferguson.

@littlemermaid, i read your stats on the other thread (sorry @acatalepsy, it wasnt yours i read!!). you seem like a good fit . dont bet too much on “connections” at schools like washu. besides, they look for alot more than just scores and gpa, they look a “fit” and what school within the university they are applying to…

WashU is, however, known to have been valuing test scores more in the last few years. While the admissions process is still fairly holistic, a very high ACT / SAT score can help you a bit more than it would at other elite schools.

@Ctesiphon, do you think the sat/act scores count more than GPA ?

@Ctesiphon‌ yeah but what’s considered very high for WashU?

I hope so! SAT:2240 ACT:35 but my UWGPA is 3.6 :((

@littlemermaid‌ middle 50% for ACT is 32-34

@srivapau, my kid has 34 and 4.4 weighted gpa (3.75 unweighted)…

@turndown4college Are those stats for the ACT the superscores or raw scores?

If I start getting mid Bs in one or two classes in my senior progress report (I raised them a bit higher second marking period), do you guys think that will play a factor in decisions?

@scimenagerie‌ its for superscores
