honestly guys, how are the girls there?...I have been on campus 4 times and I'm very sorry to say I thought my high school was 10x better girl wise. Then again, I don't attend school there everday, so I don't truely know. For me, as ignorant as this sounds, the girl factor will be partially dictating my college decision, so I need to know the truth of this matter!

I'm a girl, and I heard the girls there are eh too and that's why people drink more lol. Um, my friend's brother goes there and she went to visit and said that all the girls on his floor were really pretty. These were the freshmen girls. I dunno...I hope it's not the same way with the guys.

The girls are not as hot as, say, Vanderbilt or UFlorida. No highly selective college is going to have jaw-dropping girls.

You'll find plenty of hot girls at WUSTL, though; the ugliness is greatly exaggerated.

You are so shallow!

I found the girls to be sexy enough for me the two times that i visited. But who really only talks to girls from one school in St. Louis anyways. I heard the girls at SLU make up any descrepancies in hottness at Wash U.

missmolly:

I hope you're kidding. If not, be quiet. Your criticism is not welcome here.

I was sorry to see that it took so long to comment on the shallowness of this subject! Thanks Miss Molly. I agree completely!

to the people that think it's shallow: it's just a topic to discuss, who cares?? there have actually been articles on the subject by WUSTL students. And about UFlorida, really? I didnt know that. Like I know so many people going to UF or people that are already there, about 70 percent of my class.

though many may feel the subject is shallow it is one of the many considered when comparing and choosing between overwhelmingly similar colleges

Miss Molly and I are seeing this subject from an entirely different perspective.
(Hope you don't mind me including you in this train of thought Molly. :) )

She is a parent of a son and I a daughter. As a parent of children going out into the world, I would hope that we instilled in our children the maturity to look for something less fleeting than physical beauty in a relationship. There are so many things that are more important.

Additionally, the whole 'unattractive girls' discussion grates on my last feminist nerve. I hate knowing that even after all the fighting for equal treatment and opportunities for women ( acceptance into selective schools, being trained for and achieving professional careers being just a couple of the benefits you women of WUSTL -09 have and may recieve through those fights) physical attributes are still a primary consideration in how valuable a woman is. What is unattractive?

Physical attributes can be a lovely distraction. :) ( We're parents - we aren't dead!) They just ARE NOT a reason to pick a college! That's Shallow.

i'm hot and i'm coming to WUSTL next fall, so look for me

i think it's shallow, too, but crap it's about time somebody went ahead and posted the question we've all been wondering about

good looking out aero lol

I'll agree with you that it's a silly reason to pick a college. However, discussion of the physical attractiveness of the girls on campus is not shallow.

Let's talk psych. Instinctively, women choose their mates based on behavior more than appearance. Instinctively, men choose based on appearance more than behavior.

There are reasons behind this -- or at least possible explanations -- but that's not important. My point is that men aren't making a conscious decision to choose based on appearance. The choice has already been made for us.

as long as we're all asking, (and i know the other girls are wondering) are the guys attractive?, i dont remember seeing much when i visited, but i wasn't looking

"The girls are not as hot as, say, Vanderbilt or UFlorida. No highly selective college is going to have jaw-dropping girls."

So are you saying there is some genetic link between intelligence and physical appearance that makes them inversely proportional to each other? Somehow I doubt there is any scientific research that in anyway supports that theory.

Hah, purely coincidental I'm trying to debate with you again, sabnetwork. :) I just don't agree with that either. I mean, I guess I can see what you mean, but I know a lot of very attractive girls, and I think it's more of a mindset than a fact that intelligent girls are less attractive.

I have to interrupt this argument right there and say that girls who are more focused on school and who work hard enough to get into the nation's most selective colleges are less likely to worry about their looks as much. Just a thought.

And THEN there are the girls who make wash u worth it. The ones that are smart (watch out, maybe smarter than you) AND care about how they look. They do exist.

i thought he was more making a statement about location rather than quality of education. My friends and I believe that southern schools attract hotter girls. My friend said both Duke and Emory had the hottest girls he saw, and I dont think anyone here will say Duke is a bad school.
