Admitted and Accepted students (who’ve visited)-- Let’s post what we love about WashU!

I’ll start:

friendliness of campus

beautiful architecture…reminded me of a fairy-tale

top-notch programs

aside from academics

1) the people, laid back and chill and super, extremely nice (bordering on freaky)

2) food

3) the campus

the people are nice and friendly

scholarship policy and merit money

closed campus (no roads run through)

south 40

food

architecture

ability to take double major so easily

ability to take classes in any school

coolest nerds ever

more to come

When I visited the campus, I found the administration to be helpful and accomodating...yes likekungpaoyu said, bordering on freaky..

WUSTL has everything a college student could want..a top undergraduate.. gorgeous campus.. accessible professors..friendly people..GREAT FOOD.. not to mention the prestige that most prospective college students care so much about.

The one thing that's not perfect about WashU is its 8-syllable name.

It's actually 12 syllables

WHy Wash U is awesome:

a large, cool city - St Louis - is at our doorstep

South 40 is a distinct area from the rest of campus, so 'work' and 'home' can sort of remain separate

reputation for having some of the nicest people around

variety and quality of food

campus architecture - can't resist the castles

Ursa's.

how so many things are entirely student-run (clubs, businesses, Thurtene, etc)

hotel-like dorms

academic prestige and rankings

flexibility in changing/creating majors

Francis Field was the site of the first Olympics in the Western hemisphere!

Way to plagiarize

"1. Campus "Pants-Optional" policy"

from Colossus (yep, his post got deleted) ....unless you are him..

No, seriously, I hear they're really open-minded about that sort of thing.

um, "pants-optional"? like you can go to class naked if you want?

I wouldn't go that far, nernirvana... Come on, let's keep this forum PG-rated.

I know this sounds kind of stupid.. but what is the weather usually like?

I lived in CA and then moved to GA.. i HATEEEE humidity and rain and i LOVVEEE dry hot or cold weather ..

and jw but did you guys visit WUSTL before you applied or after?
thanks!

I live in Saint Louis and have travelled just about everywhere. I dont think I have been anywhere with worse humidity, but we do get a nice mix of weather and you really experience all four seasons. I have lived in California and spent a lot of time in Georgia and I would rank both climates higher than Missouri, but it is not unbearable. It is probably about 93 Degrees today and beautiful.
