[ b]Other

[ list]
[ *] State (if domestic applicant): Wisconsin
[ *] Country (if international applicant):
[ *] School Type: Private
[ *] Ethnicity:Hispanic
[ *] Gender: Female
[ ] Income Bracket: $80,000
[ ] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.):
First Generation, URM
[ b]Reflection
I did find that their lack of extra essays made it very hard to distinguish myself from the others. I wish I could have done more to increase my ACT score, but whats done is done. I am very lucky to be on the waitlist although I would have preferred a solid yes or no so I can move on. I liked this school a lot but maybe I just liked it because of the friends I made there over the summer there.
[ list]
[ *] Strengths:Essays, Recommendations, Extracurriculars
[ *] Weaknesses: Definitely ACT score, no APs
[ ] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I don’t have the super high ACT score most kids accepted have. I do have the drive though, which I feel will get me accepted other places.
[ ] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:
University of Notre Dame-Accepted
UW-Madison-Accepted
Waiting on: NYU, Georgetown, Brown, Princeton, Emory, Duke, Yale , Harvard (Very much reaches, but I thought Notre Dame was a reach too. Im rather lucky.)
[ b]General Comments:
After being waitlisted and loving the school, I can now reflect on it and reassess my college choices and what I really want in a college. This was not meant to be because the chances of getting of the waitlist are slim. I will have to look, in a bitter sweet way, somewhere else. I wonder where.

I wasn’t going to do this but decided to because it could give someone hope, as I was intimidated scrolling through class of 2018.

Decision: Accepted CAS

Objective:
SAT I: 2130 (690 cr, 670 m, 770 w)
ACT: n/a
SAT II: Didn’t report
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.94
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): top 1% lol
AP scores: Didn’t report
IB scores: I don’t think I reported

Subjective:
Extracurriculars: NHS VP then NHS prez, Student Government, soccer, varsity xcountry, varsity indoor and outdoor track, group that tutors immigrants, group that raises awareness for hunger, homelessness, and poverty, book club, church choir, church youth group, and some other little stuff

Volunteer/Community service: volunteered at hospital, and friends and I raised ~700 meals for the hungry, volunteered with So Other Might Eat (SOME), food pantry, nursing home
Essays: 8/10 or 9/10
Teacher Recommendations: 9/10
Counselor Rec: I don’t know
Interview:
none
Other
State (if domestic applicant): MD
School Type: public
Ethnicity: African American
Gender: F
Income Bracket: ~77k
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): URM I guess, and also prospective student-athlete

Reflection
Strengths: Extracurriculars, essay, GPA
Weaknesses: I thought my SATs were good but I guess they’re on the lower end of average for those that were accepted.
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I think it was just a combination of everything.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted at St. Johns in Queens, UMD Honors and banneker/key, UMBC, Howard, Wesley. I think those were the only ones I applied to early action. I also got a bsai invitation from duke

General Comments: SAT scores and GPA do not make an individual. Commit yourself to doing the things you love. For me, those were helping people and running. But iIf you don’t get in, then it’s for a reason. There’s a perfect fit school for everyone and I’m positive you’ll find it. Don’t let a rejection or waitlist discourage you at all.

Also, I didn’t really show a lot of interest but I did spend a weekend there in the fall for their athlete recruiting weekend. Beautiful campus, beautiful rooms, amazing food.
