How is the on campus social scene at Washu? I know some of the most brilliant people in the country attend this school, but I am curious to know how much partying and fun the people have their. Yeah, I know its a college, so there will be parties, but I mean like actual good parties with fun and outgoing people (not that smart kids arnt outgoing). Are there a lot of jocks/athletes at the school as well? How are the members of the opposite sex?

I know this is a very immature thread, but I think these questions cross the mind of almost every prospective freshmen who looks at a college.

My friend has a brother at WUSTL and hasn't heard from him since he got an apartment. It's been a year now. I guess he rebelled quite a bit and parties hard.

hey Stlrams2006, I can't really give u definite answers to ur questions because i only went there for a tour and interview, i didn't stay long enough to go to parties and whatnot. But i think your thinking that there are smart people with lives and parties isn't too far from the truth. I'm kind of pinning my hopes on that too because if i get in, i don't want there not to have parties. lol

i was there for about four days when i visted and it was over a weekend. while WashU is not OU or Wisconsin - Madison there were parties and events going on all the time. However, the students also made their own fun, while I was there a bunch of girls on the floor went to dinner and a movie. so i mean there seems to be a balence of fun and academics.

When i did my overnight visit on a thrusday night. Guys were going to Frats to party, there was an event called sex in the dark and i stayed up and played a board game with my hosts till 5:00 in the morning people definetly have fun there.

I don't got to WUSTL, but "Student's Guide to Colleges" gives some hints that WUSTL students definitely like to party!

Wash U. students spend a lot of time doing work. But they also spend a lot of time partying. On any given night of the week, the bars are packed. Every weekend, the campus comes alive with fraternity parties, suite parties, and apartment parties. The fraternity parties get particularly wild, and over 25 percent of the student body goes Greek. If going Greek isnt your thing but you still like to get sloshed every now and again, dont worry Greek parties are usually open to all."

Hey guys-
I'm currently a freshman at WashU and I have to say that there is something for everyone. Frat parties are open to everyone (meaning all WashU students...you do need an ID to get into a lot of them) and there are multiple parties going on on frat row over the weekends. They even have foam parties which are a lot of fun. However, if partying isn't really your scene, people go to Forest park, Cardinals games, movies, the mall, etc. There are also people who make their own fun and play boardgames and such, so any type of person can find what he or she enjoys. Hope that helps :)
