And for whatever its worth, WUSTL has won a national basketball championship more recently than Duke. (link)

WUSTL is a great school and will give you the opportunity to experience a different part of the country. The scholarship sounds like a good deal.

Smirks after he sees Division III

Lmao, Wash U can't compare to Duke in any way when it comes to Biomed engineering.

Let's break it up to different categories:

Academics - Duke has one of the best biomed engineering programs in the country; it's one of their specialties. Duke has also ALWAYS been ranked higher than Wash U.

Campus - Duke has it's own forest. What does Wash U have? Lol, but seriously Duke's campus is extremely beautiful and it's not in Missouri.

Social scene - Duke is a party school. Wash U is a study school. You decide.

Athletics - Duke basketball vs Division III basketball hmmm.... Wash U won a more recent championship? Okay, that's like Duke getting a bronze in the Olympics and Wash U winning gold in the Special Olympics.

so to counter:

Academics- hmmm..... i know that duke is one of the best bme's but I'd have to say that washU is probably as good as if not better than dukes bme... (everyone's biased... personally, the fact that the dean of BME was sniped from hopkins and taken the best faculty from bme schools like case and hopkins tells you why washu bme is the best). ranking is also based more on name recognition. WasU is more of a up and coming school, but bme is been a main staple at washu that has propelled it up to duke's level in just 10 years.

Campus- If you visit washU you'll see that the campus is amazing and we add new buildings each year including a new engineering campus this year. and as for a forest... does duke have the biggest park in the entire nation next door (forest park) with free museums. St. Louis, MO vs. middle of North Carolina?

Social scene- unbiased i'd have to say that washu is not a study school. just like a duke... you can study or party... anywhere you go that's true. and think about the night life of a major US city.

Athletics- Duke=choke artists. and to say losing in the 2nd round is a bronze medal is a bit of the stretch. If you really like duke sports... go to duke. but if not... why does it matter. WashU contends for D3 titles in all of its sports as well. Anyways, who wants to watch an overhyped team lose early in the NCAA.

WashU is atleast the same as duke and by now you should be bought by WashU because of your scholarship. I know I was.

quote

I fail to see how this unequivocally establishes WashU's BME program as the best.

One of the best? You can make a case. The best? No.

No we just have the Research Triangle Park, the largest research park in the United States, next door in addition to our own forest.

Duke athletics consistently placing well in the Director's Cup for NCAA Division I sports hardly constitutes "choke artists"

While this has little to do with the original question, I can't resist responding to Antonius' apparent slaps at Hopkins by pointing out that, in the last year, Duke's Dean of Engineering left to come to Hopkins and Duke's ONLY Nobel prize winning faculty member (he was at Hopkins when he won it) decided to return to Hopkins after two years. So there:)
