Every single building is airconditioned. So it isnt too bad

i just heard that there are 63 ppl from China in Class of 2014… really a great number… since Rice has only about 900 '14 ppl in total. so i am a little concerned about Rice’s diversity./…

Rice is close to a real Chinatown.
/thread

anyways, I had to make this decision last year. I ended up choosing rice because rice has even greater academic flexibility than washU’s already amazing academic flexibility, more chill attitude and atmosphere, cheaper tuition, and much better selection of off-campus food (chinatown). many other good reasons, like some already mentioned, to go to rice can be applied to washU as well. I wasn’t looking forward to the weather but it wasn’t so bad after the first month or two. In fact, the weather from november to march was amazing. I’ve worn nothing but shorts/short sleeves all year. About the saturation of international chinese students… yeah there are a lot of international chinese students. Rice is still relatively diverse though… kind of… so don’t worry too much about that.

63 out of 900 is not too bad. Especially since 63 will be divided across 11 colleges.

hahaha cyhtjdg… i was on the rice forum page to find research for my own (bizarrely, almost identical) decision between Rice and WashU, and saw this (which I responded to with my opinions in your post on the WashU page, and I won’t paste it here cuz it’s realllllly long, haha).

another note: i’m like 99% sure rice is more diverse than WashU… i was at WashU just yesterday, actually, and it wasn’t all that diverse (still reasonably good diversity).

anyway, best of luck wherever you go! i’m sure you’d love either one.

haha, jgorman450, nice to see you again
i have already made deposit to Rice.
What’s your decision?

still no decision yet… vanderbilt’s also in the discussion for me, so i get to make a tough decision in the next few days hahaha.
Rice is a great school, best of luck there!

thank you.
PM me if you decide to enroll at Rice. Hope to see you there~
