I'm comparing these schools, trying to decide where I want to ED, but I don't know which wins out on the academic side. I have a slight preference for one of the schools in terms of social life, but it's not huge (I don't want to say which one until after people have told me what they think).
Academically speaking, which school is better at:
1) Math
2) Biology
3) Pre-med
3) Undergraduate Research Opportunities

Thanks for any help

I’m not sure about the research opportunities for other undergraduates, but I would say that Wash U is probably the better option. Wash U is better for biology and pre-med, and Rice is only a few ranks higher for math. If the academics are equal for you, it’s not a bad idea to make your decision based on the environment of the school.

Yea, I was looking at the rankings, and they seem pretty close, on top of that, they were grad school rankings, so I’m not sure how much it matters. Would you say that any differences are too small to make a very big difference?

Both are excellent, but Rice has the huge Houston Medical Center complex right across the street and that offers a lot of research and internship opportunities. Rice also has D1 sports, if you care about that. Houston has a better climate (you won’t be there for much of the hot summers) and the Rice campus is great. The residential college system at Rice is also nice.

Trust me, I’ve taken almost every aspect involving the social side into account, I just don’t know how different the education is. Is one clearly better than the other? or is it only minor nit picky details?
