A'ight, so where y'all getting this number from? I've been browsing around College Confidential today and I've this number a few times as the number of Stanford EA deferred applicants? How do y'all know?

I'd like to know that answer too - because it is raising my hopes to be accepted in the next round.

oh i read somewhere that the percentages of accepted/deferred/rejected
goes somewhat like
20/30/50
this year only 16% early got in...4700ish applicants
im assuming 30% got deferred, so around 1500-1600 deferred, 10% of defer-ees get in or so it says in the stanford letter, hence 150-160
sorry if my math sucks =T

edit// just looked up real numbers
4,644 applicants--30% deferred (not sure about percentage), suppose 1394 deferred
that means 139-140 out of those will get in from deferred pile

30% is just a random number...somebody call admissions

I heard only 10% got deferred

the number my girlfriend's counselor got was 900 deferred... she happened to be one of them :( while i was admitted.

That number is probably grossly inaccurate. For HYP schools that numer would be right because they rarely reject anybody. But for stanford it's mostly accept or rejects.
"A relatively small number of candidates not offered admission were deferred to the Regular Decision process and will be evaluated again with those candidates who applied by the Dec. 15 deadline"

sorry -_- just got that number somewhere. didn't say it was 100% accurate
hey! im wishing for lower numbers too...I've been deferred as well
hahaha well you never know waht they mean by "small number of candidates"
shrugs

KnightMair--that sucks alot. I'm hoping to go to the same college as my bf as well, although people tell me to not use that as one of the reasons when choosing where i go =x

It's also surprising that Stanford only accepted ~750 earlies this year, as compared to the ~850 earlies the years before. Could this mean that we will have better than 10% defer-RD rate come April?

Stanford usually defers only 10% of SCEA applicants.

^oh good, that makes me feel a bit better
lol

I just wanted to support the previous post with what we learned when we visited this summer - that "approximately 10% are deferred."
