I know you guys probably see 10,000,000 of these threads a day, so im sorry for another one. My current unweighted GPA is a 2.7, but I have a weighted 3.35. I am going into my senior year in a couple days and will be taking the SAT on October 1st ( I am a VERY strong test taker, I project getting at least a 1750 conservatively) and hopefully applying early to all 4 universities.

I have taken 2 AP classes as of now (11th grade English which I passed with a 3 and U.S. History which I passed with a 4), and am planning on taking A.P. English my senior year. I am a 2 year varsity football player with only required Football community service (Kids football camp, visiting nursing home, picking up trash in our small town Ect.) I think I may also be included in Beta club my senior year because of my strong junior year. I live in North Carolina also, if that changes anything.

Anyway, the 4 universities are in order;
1. East Carolina
2. UNC Charlotte
3. West Virginia
4. South Florida

Thanks in advance!

P.S. When I am looking at websites and it said something to the tone of "the average student at this university had a 3.0 GPA coming out of High School." are they most likely referring to weighted or unweighted?

Any response to a “Chance Me” is an opinion of someone who is not involved in the process, and is guessing. The best you can hope for is that someone knows (or has looked up) the admissions statistics for these schools and applies them to your stats.

As an alternative, you can look up these stats yourself, either in a college book, or by looking up the Common Data Set on line (most schools make this available).

If I knew about these schools, I’d share my thoughts, but I’ve never looked into these particular ones.

However, I did a quick google search – all 4 post their Common Data Sets. I hope this information is helpful.

I wouldn’t call this VERY strong, but it is good in relation to your grades. VERY strong would be 2300+. Anyway, how competitive is your football team? That might be the strong point of your application, if it regularly does well in state championships.

Thats why I said conservatively on the test score. I’m a lot smarter than my grades would imply, I just didn’t try very hard freshman and sophomore year because I knew I could pass with no effort. I was listed as AIG in all 3 school districts ive been in since 5th grade. As far as our football team, we are a small public school who have a history of mediocrity, but my first year on Varsity we went 11-0 and had a post season ranking of 3rd in the state.

Also Zephyr, that post didn’t help much at all, as I’ve looked all of that info up before and understand how this forum works. I am only asking personal opinions of people familiar with the application progress. Don’t mistake inquisition for laziness.
