WWU vs WSU

I'm wondering what the opinions are here on Western Washington University and Washington State University.

WSU is my first choice & I've already been accepted, but I am looking at WWU as a close second. I'm looking to study biology, hopefully with a double major in foreign languages or Spanish. But I haven't heard too much about WWU's programs.

I'm from the Western part of the state, and a tonnnn of people in my city go to Bellingham because it's basically the same atmosphere, location from Seattle, etc. Personally, I really like the football/school spirit community that WSU has, and I'm actually moving to Central Washington this week so I guess I'll have 6 months experience living around that area. But I am also pretty easy-going and I've only ever lived in two very hippie-ish, artsy cities (Eugene & Olympia) so I am kind of the "vegan", natural type to some extent... Not to a T, but I know that culture very well.

So I guess if I could narrow this down...
1) How are the sciences & languages at WWU compared to WSU? Also I heard somewhere that WWU doesn't have study abroad through the school... Is this true?
2) What are your personal opinions about each school?
3) Any info on the atmosphere, the towns, etc.

You should visit both.I have never been to WW but was just at WSU.I did not care for WSU.It was isolated, poor and not very well kept. Why not go to U of Washington?

Thanks, I will! Hopefully in the next month or so I will be able to.
Hm, how did you think WSU wasn’t well-kept?
And I just have never been interested in UW. It’s really big & doesn’t seem to have the friendly & helpful atmosphere I want especially as an undergrad. It seems like you kind of have to fend for yourself there to succeed and it might be too much for me to start off. I might go there for grad or med school though.

Would it be possible for you to drive to WWU next month (after finals/ winter break) and take a general tour of the school as well as the language and science facilities? If possible, talk to students who aren’t tour guides, or professors in subjects you’re interested in about their thoughts about the school.

Here’s the link to WWU’s study abroad: IPE[/url”>Home | Education Abroad | Western Washington University]IPE If you need more info, it’s probably best to contact the school directly. Don’t worry if the school doesn’t run its own study abroad programs, so long as they recognize, and fund at the same rate as your tuition, other schools’ study abroad.

IMO, when a student is down to two choices, and not just developing a list of schools, it’s best to tour both and figure out where they would be most comfortable in (financially, academically, socially, etc)
