Anyone with any experience about financial aid and Xavier University?

hows the fin aid?
scholarships?
% need met?

did u have a good package?

btw, rough stats: Rank: 7/270, ny state public high, good school, gpa: 97/100, SAT: 1370. tonsssssss of ECs and awards

You need to pay $14.95 to buy access to the U.S. News Premium College site, which provides the kind of info that you need.

If you can find Xavier's common data base, you also can get the info that you need there.

Have you also checked Xavier's web site for the kind of info you're looking for? Another option is to e-mail the financial aid office.

right now we dont have $15 to drop on an online service, although itd be nice. :-

Then look at the college's web site, and also go to a bookstore or library and look at the US News Premium college guide or other college guides that provide the fin aid info you want.

If you can't afford $15 for access to an on-line site, it's very unlikely that you'd be able to afford the extra costs related to going far away from your city to college. Even with excellent financial aid, it's still expensive to get to and from college -- gas, airlines tickets, parents' taking time off work, expense of shipping your belongings, etc.

NY State public universities probably will be most affordable for you. Your stats are nice, but not so spectacular that you'd probably get the kind of merit aid and need-based aid that you'd need to attend most many private and out of state colleges that you could get accepted to. Your stats put in in line with getting into second tier colleges, and many are not able to give full need-based financial aid to people whose EFC is 0.

It's also possible that in-state schools 1-2 hours from your home may have special scholarships for students from your area. Consequently, my advice is to take a good look at those colleges, and also ask for advice from your GC and ask around at your school to see what kind of aid and merit scholarships students there have gotten in recent years.

Which Xavier University are you considering? The one in New Orleans or another one?

Since I see thorugh another post that you are white, I assume that you are considering Xavier in Cincinnati, not Xavier, the historically black college in New Orleans.

Here's a link to info about merit aid. I suggest e-mailing their financial aid or scholarship office to find out what the competition is like for the 4 full tuition/full room and board scholarships: http://www.xu.edu/undergraduate_admission/scholarships/scholarship_scholar_acad.htm
