Xavier University concerns

Hi, I am a high school senior very seriously considering attending Xavier University in Cincinnati. There are a lot of things I love about the school, but I have a few concerns and was hoping someone who has experience with Xavier or schools of a similar type can help address.

  1. Diversity - I am an LGBT student and while Xavier does have a GSA, I can’t find a lot of information on it. While Xavier seems to be an accepting enough campus, I’d like to find some sense of community. Furthermore, I come from a classical Christian education which has consisted almost exclusively of white Christians and I am not religious. While I don’t mind the Catholic presence on campus, I don’t want to relive high school.
  2. Money
  3. Social life - I am not much of a partier, but I’ve heard that social life on campus (both in regards to partying and basic socializing) can be a little dull. While I enjoy the smaller campus and focus on service, I’d like to have at least a semi-traditional college experience.

Thank you to anyone who can help!

i don’t know anything about the school specifically, but as far as your financial concerns go, have you gotten accepted and a FA package? have you run the net price calculator? (it might not be as accurate if your parents own other properties or are divorced).

I did receive some aid, and the price will be manageable, but not ideal; especially considering my plan for after college is law school I’d like to save money while still receiving a great education.

if it isn’t ideal cost-wise and you aren’t loving the social fit you might want to consider going somewhere else. did you get accepted to anywhere else that is more affordable? you are right in wanting to keep costs as low as possible if you are pre-law.
