XC Running at Oberlin

Hi!
I was just wondering if anyone here was a member of the XC team or at least knew anything about running @ Oberlin. I'm very interested in Oberlin, and I think I'd like to run in college. Any info would be great!

ah my best friend runs at oberlin. He was an amazing runner at school. He was 6th and 4th in steeple chase at the NY state champs, so hes a hella good runner. He has alot of fun on the team because the kids are all really cool, but apparently the workouts are hell .... uh call the coach if you want any other info
peace

you rock! i'm probably going to run at oberlin too.... i say that because i actually talked to coach appenheimer earlier today when i was at oberlin for all roads. the deal is you can run if you are going to commit to it and do everything required (in other words, don't be a slack-a#%). as far as the girls' team goes anyway, there are some really good runners on the team (like, sub-19:00 5k's), but there are a few slower runners as well (who ran 30:00's at the beginning of the season.) there are about 6 meets over a 10-week season (from september to mid-november) with practice every day except for thursdays. that means the season is over a week or two into 2nd module and you're left with time before thanksgiving break to finish up all the assignments that will be due before the holiday. i talked to a couple of people on the team (they actually talked me into considering it) and they absolutely LOVE it....it's a really great way to make connections and form friendships even before the school year starts, b/c there's an xc camp the week before orientation. you'll have to follow coach's workout schedule OYO over the summer and it's important that you report back to him regularly via email if you wish to be on the team. it most def requires a lot of hard work (XC always does...) but if you are willing to put forth the effort then you are welcome to run on the team, regardless of what coach calls your "perceived ability."

so yeah, just contact coach, his email is ray.appenheimer@oberlin.edu

i hope you decide to do it!
