Xiggi's SAT prep advice

entomom's posted site on post #501 doesn't work for me. can someone upload it somewhere? THANKS in advance

Fellow,
I just tried it and it worked for me, type it into your address line if necessary. Did you follow the instructions once you get to the site? -- Go to Join the Discussion, Preparing for College, Test Prep, Xiggi's musings.
Good luck!

I think it's because I'm in Communist China..? -_-
Ahhh the SAT's tomorrow. I'll just have to try my best. I still get to retake in fall anyway ;).

Thank you for your kind words. I'll try to find a better way to post the general file, and eventually update it a bit.

Xiggi

I took the SAT today, I'm pretty sure I did very well, thanks to your method, which is pure common sense, I know, but your laying it out so perfectly helped lazy people like me actually stay on track. Thanks man.

So I know you said the actual classes from Princeton review and kaplan are ineffective but are the online ones any better? Or are they an equal waste of time? I scored a 2070 on my first try at the SAT (in January) and hope to take it again in October, this time with more prep (I didnt really study until the day before). I hope to raise my score about 200 points. I have trouble finding time to do prep because of the outrageous amount of work i have in school, so I will probably do the prep over the summer.

Fencergirl

That is very impressive: a 2070 on your first try with minimal prep. I had a quick question - Are you taking it for your first time as a Junior, and did your success in regular school result in such a high score?

SATS don't actually matter if you transfer though...So overrated.

all the others methods suck beside xiggis

Hi Xiggi,

I am going to take the second time of SAT on 6/2. I got 1950 on my Jan SAT. I just finished the SAT prep class. I am very frustrated. When I took the first diagnostic test even before I started the class, I got 2200. My scores got worse on the 2nd and 3rd
diagnostic tests 2100 and 2050. Could it be I was too vervouse When I was taking the test. I am so confused!! I am getting nervouse because the June test is coming up soon. Please help and advise any technique. Should I focuse studying one section at a time, for example master all the math questions then move on to the CR or writing section. Please advise if this is a good strategy.

I'm priscilla and I just came back from HongKong and finished my SAT1 test. If you have some problems or need some advices. Maybe I can help you

Hi Priscilla,

Thanks for your offer. How did you do on your SAT I? Which prep book did you use? What score did you get? I really want to pull up my score to >2300. Please advise.

Are you a Amerian student? It seems that you own a great confidence with the SAT test!!How,tell me what's in your head when you first take SAT test? Or Maybe you already a ...a .. freshman? Then please tell me something about life in college^_^

Hi,Cherry17! <don't care="" about="" the="" last="" message,it's="" dosen't="" for="" you="">
Well, first I want to know which part of the test do you most concern,or worry about?</don't>

I should have done better in math section, but the last SAT I ended up around 650 in math worse than the other parts. CR- 670, Writing-660. I always feel nervous during the test, that's why make lots of careless mistakes. Any suggestions.

yeah wang, I doubt you did well on the English portion.

Is the Thompson Peterson New SAT book a good representatioin of test questions on the New SAT?

Im taking the SAT on June 2nd. Could anyone tell me what I should do for critical reading between now and then. Im pretty bad.. not to mention how well i tackled those sentence completions pretty well.. Thats the only thing im good at. Im doing Practice Exams from Princeton Review 11 practice tests for the SAT and trying to review.

Vocab still seems to be a problem for me. but I dunno. I sincerely need help on CRITICAL READING. Like How to attack questions based on Long Passage Reading. Im alright with Short Passage reading.

Please help me outline a week prep so that I can get the most out of it!!!

Thanks

Jonathan

can you upload the PDF file please?

kha, try the link on my post #501. The PDF file only lasts for about a month, so it is unlikely that the poster will keep it up indefinitely.
