Don't use the analogies section, though, it's no longer on the test.

How do you guys check answers for the CB? I mean, like how they came up with the answers. The Blue Book has no explanations.

You need the Testmasters Complete Solutions book. They have it at Amazon, but the last time I looked it was out of stock. And lately Amazon has been really slow at shipping, so I'd look elsewhere.

This really help me a lot! thx so much:)

Is Xiggi going to write an update on CR? Oct. Test is approaching... Please Xiggi update...
Thanks

If anyone has a hard time finding the right place in entomom's link to Xiggi's SAT advice, I've started a g-mail account for SAT scans and the such. I've sent a copy of it to there.

Username: satscans@gmail.com
Password: practicemakesperfect

Feel free to send in any stuff you have!

I wasn't able to login to the email id. can you or any one, please let me know the right email id...please..

I tried to log in too, and failed. I pm the person who posted the message, never got a reply.
I am thinking it is a hoax (:

I got xiggi's permission to copy his summary to this thread, it starts on pg 39, post # 575.

Hmm...I disagree.
Sometimes not working through the problems can cause you to fall into traps.
And the SAT alots much more time than the rival test, the ACT, so I think the focus on the SAT should be more on accuracy than finishing fast.

can sumone just create a webstie from all this.. the imp info is scattered everywhere.. impossible to find.!

zainuu, nobody has time to do this...unless you want to :).

go to pg 39, post #575 of this thread to read a summary of xiggi's method.

Could you define the important information that is impossible to find?

Please realize that this started as a simple post answering a request to condense hundreds of previous posts. The purpose was to offer a small roadmap and a few hints. It was never meant to be an all-encompassing "method" or "guide." Since I wrote the posts in this thread many years ago, College Confidential has exploded in size and helpful tools. However, the principles of not looking for shortcuts to replace a dedicated preparation remain the same!

For what it is worth, looking everywhere for scattered information is part of the process, and in my eyes, one of the fun parts of the "voyage."

i have a pdf file of all the stuff saved on my desktop.. it is only 11 pages though.

zainuu, do you think you could upload that pdf please? I'm also looking for some of the shortcuts that have been mentioned earlier in the thread, like the distance problem one where you multiply 2 * speed 1 * speed / (speed 1 + speed 2). Does anyone have any more of those formulas that can quickly solve a problem?

Why is there a need to upload files that are ... right here? How hard is it to scroll up a couple of pages for ... three posts?

See for example: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/68210-xiggis-sat-prep-advice-15.html#post4337380

Pretty silly, if you ask me!

Okay thanks. Did you have any more formulas like the distance one?

i read xiggi's tips on math...but did xiggi ever write anything about the CR and the new Writing section?

Xiggi and others have continously said that other workbooks than the Official SAT by CollegeBoard arent worth their price. I have the Bluebook, Rocket review, PR 11 practice tests, Barron's, Barron's 2400, Kaplan's 2400.

I found Barron's 2400 VERY helpful, but Kaplan's 2400 not even worth the paper.
So... are other books (especially the ones that I bought) helpful, or even worth it?

I agree with Xiggi, I have only used "official" materials, like the blue book, online course, and QAS. By doing them/redoing the tests/marking key mistakes and errors that i need to avoid, it was very beneficial. Also, you can order ~5 previously administered PSATs - the CR portions are pretty much the same (M and W may be easier)

Question:

What was the formula for average speed again? It deals with questions like:

If Bob takes 1 hour to go to work and 3 hours back, what's the distance?

Also, what is the sequences formula? It had to do with the remainder after dividing the term you have to find by the number at which the seq repeats, and the remainder is the answer or something.

Thanks.
