Hey, I just got a hand-written christmas card from my Wheaton admissions counselor! It even had an enclosed hot chocolate recipe! I am totally thrilled. My question is: would they really send those out to people they were going to reject? Is it their equivalent of a likely letter?

I was wondering the same thing. Does anybody have an opinion?

well, since no one else is volunteering any information, I remember reading that an EA applicant from last year got a christmas card, then got in. But I can't find the post.
p.s. welcome to the wheatie board, taoigh! The few, the proud...

As a mom of an EA app, I was wondering the same thing about the little postcards and phone calls. I spoke to a mom of an Ivy League app from last year. She said that the schools to where her daughter was eventually accepted had sent the extras. Those schools that did not accept her never sent any extras. Don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but those cards and phone calls look like good signs. It would seem lacking in sensitivity to do otherwise.

I have a question for Kshea - I've been praying that there would be no 'surprises' for my child if she gets accepted and attends Wheaton - that God would reveal to her anything about the school that would increase her discernment in the decision, and I've been hearing more and more about a growing liberal slant at the school.

Can you tell me anything about this slant?
AND
Were there any things that surprised or disappointed you?

Thanks
