want to go to a summer program such as MIT WTP or SSP; going to apply

i kno half the things mean nothing but can you chance me please ^__^

"blahblahblah"

That's what I'm thinking >_> ...

You seem academically strong, and it appears you're going to do well on the SAT I.

You'll have to take a lot of AP exams this year.
Math II, Physics, Language, and U.S. History would be good ideas for SAT IIs.

I'm speechless as to how someone can be the president of so many clubs and organizations... and Columbia doesn't care for the number of hours you've invested in these things, FYI.

In my opinion, you have a solid chance.

lol well, i join the clubs. and they (advisors) or past presidents who've graduated made me president. =| hjahaha

Tsk, that's how it usually works for my school as well, so I won't hold it against you :P

Have you considered schools like Barnard, Wellesley, and Swarthmore as well?

I know a few people who go there, but I'm not much of a liberal arts person.

how much sleep do you get a night? lol

i dunno 8 hours?

but then i really want to make USAMO...and that's like 5 hours/day MINIMUM for two months...and on top of 8 hours of school and 8 hours of sleep ....... you do the math

well, actually my friend did do some math... I have hard time believing you have any free time for yourself during tennis season. lol

I'd say if you write solid essays and etc. you have a great chance. The people on CC can blow things way out of proportion sometimes. All I can say is, on the Columbia Application you're only allowed 7 spots for ECs and no spot for hours, and they pretty much hate additional info, lol. And you're also only allowed to list 3 of your most important awards (personal or academically)... so my only advice is to choose wisely to show a certain passion in something. gl!

OH NO I DON'T. but then i just wing everything first MP >.<

"And you're also only allowed to list 3 of your most important awards"

list and describe 3-5.

They do not "hate" additional info. They simply discourage it to scare enough people that they won't have heaps of resumes from every applicant. That doesn't mean your application will automatically sink if you include extras. I was accepted with quite a bit of additional info sent in. You just have to decide for yourself whether or not it will make your app stronger.

hmm...yeah i was look at the columbia appp cuz, and they say to "use additional space as necessary"--if i don't fill up two whole pages front and back of all the clubs i've ever joined (which would be realy ridiculously funny) it should be ok right =) besides, most applicants probably have never heard of CC and they do what they want to do without knowing what colleges "want"

it's also a sign of confidence, in yourself and in the meaningfulness of your accomplishments, that you decide that an admissions committee should know (and would want to know) what additional info you're telling them. Basically, they want you to be the judge of that and make you think before sending.

(because let's be honest, we could all say a lot more crap about ourselves than anyone would want to hear, and admissions officers have way too much to read as it is)

xdub: ah yeah, my bad. I found it almost impossible to list 5 awards and describe them within the character limit, no matter how I tried, so I just think of it as 3 I guess.

NightOwl1082: Yeah, that was too harsh... but I don't think telling them how many hours you put into each EC a week qualifies as necessary additional info. Everything I sent in as additional info was just explaining clubs specific to my school or how some of my teachers/coaches left my school and how it affected my ECs/classes.

thanks for describing -- in extreme and excruciating detail -- just how annoying you aren't.

lol.

Are you as socially awkward as you sound?

And, the type of person you described sounds like a total loser to me.
Regardless of whether or not she gets into a good college, she'll still be a loser in my book :D

By the way, why are you posting under another username?
Did they ban you for spamming all the boards with your profile?

lol NOOO! =]

your stats are leaning toward engineering/science...
if you're applying for SEAS you're a shoe in(seriously)
I just got in this year SEAS and i have almost exactly the same academics as you
but you got me on all those math awards, tennis, allthose leadership positions

CC would be harder especially seeing as your profile is geared towards math/science

but if you do decide to go to Columbia i'll cya there

lol, I don't want to be an engineer or anythihng like that

^what a pity, but anyway, CC doesn't become harder because your profile is geared towards math and science, it becomes harder if you have little else on there. i'd say good chance to either school.
