I finally got my appointment today in the mail! The great thing was that I called yesterday to hear the status of my application because I was waiting for a waiver to be granted and they were able to tell me that I got an appointment. So if anyone is waiting to find out you can probably just call your regional director and find out what is happening with your app. This was also the case with my letter of assurence. So I was able to know early. To give you guy some kind of timeline:

USNA Recieved Completed Packet - Nov. 9th
Nomination Sent - Oct. 22
LOA Sent - Dec. 8th
Finished DodMERB - Dec. 27th
Recived Letter from DoDMERD saying I needed a waiver for my eyes and that it will be automatically considered - Jan. 10th
Received Appointment- Jan. 28

A three month time span isn't bad, espically for a college. Good luck to all and I'll be around if you wanna ask any questions. GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY!

word of advice: if the computer you're supplied with comes with games, DELETE THEM ASAP! theyre like a black hole....a little tes the Academy rigged up, im sure.

My app went in and out of DoDMERB quicker than I expected. I called DodMERB right after they sent it to the academy trying to get onto the website but by that point it was about a week after my exam and they had already sent it away to navy. So it was already out of their hands and the website wasn't relevant anymore. When I called they mentioned that in terms of DoD regulations I passed but I needed an eye waiver from Navy because of their more strict waiver rules. I wasn't perfect 20/20. I knew that before. In the DoDMERB letter they stated that USNA decides if you get an eye waiver or not. So in short I didn't even use the website cause it happened so fast.

I never got a letter saying that if I got a nomination I was assured to get in ( I think that is a loa) but I got a letter saying that my nomination from my senator was received, and then the next week I got the letter saying that I was offered an appointment. My BGO thought that the fact that I had 2 nominations helped even if I wasnt a principal nominee.

Congratulations, JPhelan. You are joining a very elite group of young men and women. You have my congratulations and appreciation for your service.

Sailin:
I wouldn't go so far as to say she loves it there, but she has admitted that she knows it's the best place for her and that she has no regrets about not going to Purdue. Feel free to PM me if you have questions.

So has anybody besides JPhelan05 received an appointment without having an LOA first yet? My son's BGO told him that his app was still with the board and the first round of appointments wasn't being made until March at the earliest. I know some of you have received your appointments already (congrats, by the way!) but thought most of you with appointments also had LOA's.
