Yale 2014 Acceptance Stories - Tell us how you found out!

Thanks a lot Jonathan! I started this thread in hopes that others would be entertained by my story and hopefully share their’s too!

@anonymous93- We had IDENTICAL experiences, literally I remember doing everything you did. haha. I got all worked up because I couldn’t remember my passwords and then I got depressed because I thought that was a bad sign. It’s so funny how students across the country have similar experiences.

Just thought I’d bump this up to get people super anxious. ;]
I’m evil, I admit it.

You sure did get me super anxious…

Wow Owlehn, do you have a heart?

This just made the next 17 days infinitely harder!

I know that this is an old thread but I still want to tell OP congrats! What a touching story

Ugh I did not need to read these

Mwahaha… something deep inside me likes reading these stories. Lol.
I think I’m going to record myself checking my application status. And if I get rejected, I’ll just delete the video.

^ Lol nice.

I read this and watched the Ivy Dreams video and…my heart stopped.

OMG I love this thread.

Thanks for bumping Owl!

Owlehn you are CRUEL. I could so have done without these.

This is the story of my likely letter, as official acceptances obviously have not been sent out yet.

I was contacted by the track coach in July, and we chatted, and I sent him my transcript, SAT scores (which was an abysmal 1820), and some other stuff. He said if I could score a 30+ on the ACT, he would offer me an official visit (where they pay for the athlete to fly out there for two days). I ended up getting a 32, and he was more than pleased, so after my official visit in mid-October he asked if I was ready to commit, and I had never been more ready to do anything in my life. So he told me to complete my application as soon as possible and submit it. So, I ended up turning it in a few days before the Nov. 1 deadline, and from there, I had not heard anything from anyone at Yale for over two and a half weeks. Then on Monday, November 15, Yale called my guidance counselor asking for my quarter grades. Needless to say I had been a nervous wreck ever since labor day when the Coach called to offer the visit. But I knew they were reading my file, so that intensified the feeling almost ten-fold.

I waited patiently by my phone after school for the next three days, but heard nothing. Then on friday, I called him as soon as I got out of school, and asked him if he had heard anything. He let me know then that they liked what they saw and the likely letter worked out, and it will be coming in the mail next week. It took a whole week to get it, but when I saw that envelope from Yale University in my mailbox, I almost fainted.

So, in summation, if you get an acceptance, it is totally worth the wait. But I was so nervous it was to the point where I just wanted them to put me out of my misery if it wouldn’t work out so I could move on with my life, and I almost was ready to until I called him.

The next few days were congratulations on facebook, phone calls, and from people at school, since no one got into Yale last year from my school, and we are a private all boys prep school.

Anyways, just thought I should share, and wish EVERYONE the best of luck!!

^ Congrats, xfxjumper!

And also, this thread has tripled my confusion (anxiety, and excitement)…Yale…let me live until the 17th please!!!

AHHHHHHHH I didn’t need this!!!

This thread needs to disappear into obscurity, into the deepest parts of CC.

It’s freaking me out.

There was another thread, in the Yale 2014 forum, about people sharing acceptance stories. I think it had more stories than this one.

Here is the link: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-2014/835269-a.html

I was expecting to get in, so it was sort of uneventful when I did get my acceptance.

^ Go away. D:
