Yale 2014 EA Pledge Thread

I haven’t really been keeping track of this thread. Has someone taken it upon themselves to moderate/analyze the pledge results thread?

Yeah, I got 6 wrong and got a 2260, while I know someone who got 6 wrong and has a 2340… My Yale interview went really well - the interviewer really liked me :). Stupefy -one of the reasons I think I have great chances at Cornell is that my school usually gets around 6 (out of 70-100 students per grade) into Cornell, and the college counselors told me strait out that I have better grades, transcript, national awards, essays, recs, and extracuriculars than anyone else in my grade, and I have the (one of the, if not the) best overall app that my school has ever seen (yay!! I hope they are right), so I should probably be able to get in over 6 of my classmates. Thanks ZishuAW for your confidence in me!! :)

hey just wondering
did you guys get interviewed?
i’m from the bay area and i didn’t get interviewed
no one from my school who applied to Yale got interviewed by Yale :(

Yeah I did. I got interviewed. It went decently, although there were 1 or 2 stumbles I might have made, but overall we connected and had some laughs. I just hope that’s not a deciding factor. Bankin on my legacy X)

I’m really scared about my interview. I had it about 1 or 2 weeks ago, and it wasn’t wonderful. We didn’t instantly bond, but I think we got along quite nicely and we laughed a few times. But he was older and he’s been interviewing for like 20 years (a disadvantage since I didnt do so hot =[) so he pretty much seemed like he wasnt too interested, hes done this so many times. He was pretty serious, not showing too much emotion so I couldn’t tell what he thought. And I stumbled twice or so. I’m a little worried =\ It wasn’t as great as my Rice interview; the interviewer was a current undergrad and we were very casual and laughed a LOT. It was actually a very fun interview, unlike the Yale one.

Hey, that’s like mine was. Apparently the interviews are the least important part of the admissions process, from what I hear.

W: 4.0635 (QQ I didn’t take enough APs)
SAT I: 2310 (780 CR, 800 W, 730 M)
SAT IIs: Math II 800, Literature 770, Bio-E 730
APs: Stats-4, Bio-5

Rank: about top 20% school used to rank by UW GPA, but it doesn’t rank anymore. however rank available upon request if colleges request it. i go to a super competitive school with lots of Asian students.

ECs: really blah. i play badminton, on school varsity team, i do Chinese/Western art, i play piano. i spent too many years conforming to the asian stereotype to the point that it’s failed me for college applications.
i interned for a local politician, not a super big fish.

Hobbies: i watch kdramas, i write fanfiction, i spend lots of time scheming on a stock market simulation. i’ve been trying to find my life path for ages…

Hooks: what are those. i’m an asian girl who’s doing sociology? i have yet to figure out my path in life.

sigh the more i analyze my application, the more i think, why am i just another conformist asian student. my application has the consistency of tofu
