Yale 2015 Hopefuls

I decided today that I’ll probably go for Yale SCEA.

Omg, how would we be able to compete with silverturtle ):

I’ll definitely be applying, maybe SCEA, but still undecided on my intended field of study.

A worthy decision at that, for you will not hinder my Stanford REA, and I will not hinder your Yale SCEA. We are from the same geographical region, as you are well aware. I wish you the best of luck :)

Thank you. Good luck to you as well.

I’m still in the process of deciding :).

^ You should probably exploit the legacy at Stanford. (And then we won’t be competing against one another. :))

silverturtle, I don’t really think that you’re competing against anyone :P

As much as I appreciate the positive regards and recognize that I am a competitive applicant, no one is ensured acceptance, and this certainly includes me. :)

^ I would just like to clear up that even if you were to change your decision to applying Stanford REA, I would still wish you the best of luck.

The legacy is a pretty big pull but I think I’ve got a bit of East Coast bias. In any case, I’d be more than happy to attend either school.

I WILL TAKE THE BULLET FOR YOU. Jersey13, apply to Stanford. We shall compete so as to not hinder silverturtle’s chances at Yale.

Perhaps 2016 :]. (Unfortunately there’s no thread for that yet, so I’m posting here.)

Jersey if you apply to Stanford you’ll be competing against me, which won’t be a problem…for you.

Ahh, I just visited Yale today. It was amazing, and I’m definitely going to apply SCEA. I just need to get my SAT score up :(

I am SO GLAD this was one of the top threads. I have been thinking about Yale for such a long timee

SCEA all the way, but I don’t know if that will really help :(

It’s still nice to have a dream school though-- it’s something to strive for :)

I’d do Stanford if I were you. Stanford is notorious for having a huge legacy pull (at least around here) and I think applying EA will show them your commitment (even if you’re not committed - doesn’t matter because it’s not ED). Also, Yale SCEA won’t really increase your chances, especially because they defer a huge huge number of applicants to RD anyway :)

Are URMs included in the list of groups that are benefited more in the SCEA round (like legacies, athletes, etc.)? Just wondering.

^ I haven’t seen evidence of that, though it’s very difficult to tell. However, I offer this for your consideration: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/651345-race-college-admissions-faq-discussion-3-a-49.html#post1062655144.

Hm. My stats are higher than the stats of the Native American who was accepted but that doesn’t really mean anything. Rocket6louise (is that her name?) had stats very similar to mine and got deferred, so eh.
