half of them lie. haha. i can’t wait to apply!

Actually, call me naive, but I’m pretty sure most of the people here are telling the truth.

How do you know?

You can never know whether somebody is posting their true achievements or not. But it shouldn’t be relevant for you, anyways.

What would be the point of lying on CC?

^ insecurities I guess

yeah but it’s not like someone knows you so they’re going to get impressed.

Boosting your virtual ego.

I second that

I am applying to Yale Early Action, I think.
I scored a 32 on the ACT
I’ve been yearbook editor of my school for 2 years
I volunteer at a hospital every week, for a total of two years
I’m African-American, from Ohio
I’m on student government, NHS, and did bowling for two along with a year of tennis.

The only thing I’m worried about is not getting financial aid. I have a brother in college already which would help. My dad is a general practitioner and my brother received no financial aid whatsoever.

What do you think my chances are of acceptance.

^ We need to know your GPA and class rank. What is your family’s annual income?

(In the future, note that you should probably make your own chance thread; that is not the purpose of this thread).

Right here baby

Silverturtle: quick question. How would they know your income? I’m doing the CommonApp and I don’t recall having filled out my annual income.

^^ something to do with CSS Profile and college board :S ?? i read something like that somewhere before :)

Me me me!! :-)

hello guys, another hopeful here. I was reading Yale’s headmaster’s interveiw report and went like “this is my Dream School” I’m soooo sure…it seems to fit so perfectly!

Yale is definitely on my list, except I’m still deciding between Stanford and Yale SCEA…both are so different and have things that I absolutely love.

different in what ways? (I’m facing the same dilemma so I’m trying to get to know as much as possible about both of them.)

@kaira07 well to me it seems that Stanford has a California-esque campus and weather so it’s warm and sunny, and is more science-oriented (since it was established later, it wasn’t one of the East coast schools that promoted the liberal arts education for modern thought but was one of the first ‘American universities’ and was founded when science was becoming more important. I think I read that somewhere but I’m not completely sure, but it definitely emphasizes the sciences). It’s also way more athletic and has bunches of athletic recruits and I hear athletes kind of dominate the social scene.
On the other hand, Yale’s on the East coast, with an east coast campus and weather (so bad half the year, or so I hear), is more liberal arts and has kind of a more quirky student body. It’s very artsy and I guess Jewish and LGBT. They also have the residential colleges which is a huge plus for me.

Hello. Yale is basically my favorite school in the world, but I don’t stand a chance because I’m homeschooled. I’m still going to try, though.
