Yale 2015 SCEA Applicant Stats Comparison

Actually, I would feel honored. My race is pretty much cheated out of everything else. :)

Here we go again…

@noob92

“infallible” “sycophantic” “nauseating”

hehehe hahaha

Really…?

Geez guys. You know how there’s a Godwin’s Law that stipulates that extended internet discussions eventually degenerate into Nazi talk? There should be a similar law established specifically for CC, except instead of Nazism it ought to be about affirmative action.

@ monstor - it does appear you’re right. Quite unknowingly I brought it up in a thread a few days ago, but ever since have noticed it almost everywhere. On the plus side though, people seem used to it enough to quickly move on…

^^ So true.

I agree with that one dude. The salad thing is pretty non-topical, though I understand what SilverTurtle is alluding to.

So, in line with the ridiculousness of this thread, I ask a seemingly ridiculous, only-on-CC question:

I took the ACT for the lulz in October and got a 36. Wat do?
Should I submit it to Yale and my other schools? I have a comparable SAT score (2370), so I don’t know if it’s worth the extra $20 a pop to send in, especially because I’ll have to submit SAT scores anyways for SAT IIs.

^You can submit either all your SAT Is and IIs or your ACT. Unless you’ve already sent some of your SAT stuff, you could just submit your ACT and be done with it.

I’ve already sent my SATs to Yale, and I want to send my SAT IIs to my other schools. Another thing I just thought of: Will I look like a testing whore for taking the ACT in the first place? (Guilty as charged btw.)

I don’t think so. I can’t imagine that most kids applying don’t take both tests. If I were you, I’d just send my SAT IIs and not worry about my ACT, though.

I think it’s a safe bet that the scores reported here do not reflect the SCEA population at large. I’m pretty sure these score reports skew high.

Is that a problem? Not at all. Does it tell us very much about who’s going to be accepted? Probably not. Is it good for people to share the things that make them comfortable, or proud, and touch base with a community of interest? Absolutely. You never know what you’ll learn.

I might as well join in since I’m thinking about Yale today (just had my interview, woo!)

ACT: 36
GPA: 3.94 UW / 4.13 W (that’s what 3 underclassmen B+s gets me :stuck_out_tongue: and I have no idea how my school weights things…highest weighted GPA is about a 4.2 here)

Anyways, everyone’s stats look great; good luck all :)

oh, way to lower my confidence…:/

SAT: 800/750/750 - 2300
SATII: 800 on 2 languages, 2 sciences, and 1 math
Class rank: 1%
GPA: 4.0 (uw); 4.6/5.0 (w)

lol I feel really, really dumb now.

SAT I: 2280 (720 R, 770, 790 W)–>how much would it hurt that I did not score 20 pts. higher??
Subjects: 800 Bio E, 780 Chem, 800 Math 2
Rank: 3/461
Location: TN

What a depressing thread! Oh well, here are my stats:
SAT I 2340: Writing 800, CR 800, Math 740
SAT II 2350: Math II 800, Spanish 790, Bio M 760

GPA unweighted 4.0/4.0
GPA weighted 4.69/5.0, although it’s mathematically impossible to get a 5.0
Rank 8/595, public school

Good luck everyone!

Well, after reading everyone else’s scores, I’m scared. But here we go…

ACT: 34
Class Rank: 2/48
GPA: 4.00 (UW) 4.375 (W)

SAT I: 2370 (800 CR, 800 M, 770 WR)
SAT II: Physics - 800, Chem - 800, Math II - 800, US History - 780
Class Rank: Top 1% out of 700ish students
GPA: Somewhere between 3.9 and 4.0 unweighted, 4.48 weighted (AP is 5, Honors is 4.5, Regular is 4)

Good luck to everybody!

I’ve seen incredibly smart people at my school (with similar stats to me) get rejected by Yale so I’m a little nervous…but if I get rejected at least I won’t feel as bad lol.

^ If your extracurriculars and essays are good I really can’t see why they would turn you down. Oftentimes applicants with high scores who don’t make it lack in leadership positions or don’t come forth as a compelling, well-rounded person.

This is a great thread. I’m an international so I’m really not sure what kinda people I’m competing with. :)

As for me:
SAT I: 2330 (780 CR, 750 M, 800 WR)
SAT II: Physics - 800, Lit - 780, Math II - 800, US History - 800
converted to GPA according to our school’s weird calculations: 4.0
