Yale 2015...Will I get in??

Hello everyone!

First I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my post. I really want you to be as blunt as you can and tell me were I can improve so I can have the best possible chance of admission!

GPA: 4.08 (Weighted)
AP Classes Taken: 18
SAT: 1410

Honor Societies:

National Honor Society (General Member)
National English Honor Society (President, 2 term)
National Art Honor Society (President, 2 term)
Science National Honor Society (President, 2 term)
Quill and Scroll (Editor and Chief, 1 term)
Rho Kappa (President, 2 terms)

Other Clubs:

Lyman Theological Society (President, 2 terms)
(Lyman Theological Society)

Sports:

Crew (Club Coxswain, 5 years)

Legacy:

Grandmother: Earned her Masters and PhD (1970 and 1974)

Recommendations available:

18

Term, as stated in the HS and Club section, is one school year

Is your SAT out of 1600 or 2400? What’s your unweighted GPA? What’s your class rank? What do you mean by “Recommendations available”? Have you taken Subject Tests?

Do Honors Societies do anything, other than celebrate how honorable they are?

^No. Also, grandparents don’t count as legacies, it has to be a parent. Your grandmother’s affiliation with Yale can only help if she’s donated tens of thousands of dollars or more to Yale.

hellooooo…i think you’re missing some essential stuff…like SATII/AP SCORES!!

AP scores don’t count towards admission.

But ya you’re missing SAT 2 scores which are not only required, but also count towards admission.

A 4.08 weighted GPA with EIGHTEEN AP classes means your unweighted rank is something along the lines of 3.5 or less. Probably less.

So no, probably no chance. Especially if your SAT score is out of 2400…

Why do I get the feeling this is a ■■■■■? I mean… 18 APs by junior year, really?

AP scores DO count towards admission. although they are not REQUIRED, they still count!!

I think it is possible with a lot of time and effort. Make use of this year and improve your test scores, extracurriculars, and academics. Best of luck, 2015 :)

I don’t think someone with a 1400/2400 would even consider Yale.

You have a typo on your website. “Principal” should be “principle”.

3.8 unweighted.
Reconmendations Available" means that I have a stack of 18 letters at the ready when needed.

1410/1600 on the SAT

No I have not taken the subject test yet.

Thanks for your help

1410/1600 was the score. Hence why I am considering Yale.

I’ve taken most of them on FLVS, when I could not take them in class. At the present I am enrolled in 10. There were four in 9th and four in 10th.

Then could you tell me why on the Yale Ap. it states “have your parents, or GRANDPARENTS attended Yale?” clearly they take this into consideration.

SAT II scores won’t count for college admission after the class of 2011 which is me unfortunately… :stuck_out_tongue: and he’s 2015 so he’s going to have an easier time than me.

I’m just curious (I’ve seen it a lot on this board), but why do so many people report their scores out of 1600?

Ha Ha. No, honor societies donate their time and efforts to better the present educational system. We do community projects, school projects, International aid projects. I believe that being selected to be a member of these Honor Societies is a way to help those in need. I enjoy all of them.

Thats all colleges care about is the score out of 1600

Oh, well good for me then. I get to be one of the few, the proud, the brave who scored a 1600 twice.

And so what is the difference between, say, NHS and NEHS? NHS sends the underprivileged food and blankets and NEHS sends the underprivileged… Joyce?
