Yale 2016 SCEA Discussion Thread

^ I agree :/. I wish everyone at my school understood how hard it is to be admitted to Yale… Everyone assumes I’ll get in and they tell me not to worry… But that’s a small town public school for ya :P

The worst part about Thursday for me is that I won’t have any ECs that day… so nothing to keep me preoccupied as I cry about not getting accepted T^T

i know! i will be counting the seconds til it hits 4:00 (i live in central time). i’ve been so anxious and i don’t know what to do about it anymore!!

Ahh look what I found. This is scary
[Countdown to Dec 15, 2011 5:00 PM in New Haven](<a href=“Time since Dec 15, 2011 5:00 pm started in New Haven”>Time since Dec 15, 2011 5:00 pm started in New Haven)

Hahaha oh gosh. ^

Reading this thread isn’t exactly helping to get my mind off of this Yale decision. :P

^Added to my bookmarks  now i can be anxious down to the second- thanks!

of all the years to apply - this year is one of the best to apply SCEA. Admissions are down from last year due to Harvard / Princeton decisions as well as the overall competitive year we had that compelled others to apply to U Chicago and other schools. In the end it just comes down to what decision the admissions office makes.

^ I hope you are right!

Also… The “school report -online” thing disappeared from my Eli account today… Now I only have three again. Sincerely confused…

I am killing time with a college application frenzy… :D

I have applied to 16 schools already and 10 more are in a waiting position - if Yale says yes, then credit cards will jubilate. If Yale says no, my parents can head off for the bank to declare bankruptcy. :D

And I know what you all are talking about…I HATE it when people ignorantly declare their prophetic visions of my acceptance, not realizing that pretty much every applicant falls into the category “great” as they define it. What really sucks though is that I go to a miniscule school (15 people in the graduating class), so guess how many people know about my application…

I just checked, mine disappeared too… So weird…

haha, swimfreak, it’s the same with me at my school. so many people think it’s ridiculous that I think I won’t get into Yale. I don’t think they understand the strength of the applicant pool…

Maybe the admissions people have been lurking this thread O.o (smiles at them)

I remember when I applied to RSI (an MIT program for top science students), one of the people working with admissions looked at the thread but never commented. She had a twitter account that the thread knew about so once in awhile she would communicate with us by tweeting.

Haha. I’m sure the admissions people do check on the internet to find backgrounds on people.

I just found out I have an orchestra concert the night we find out… That’ll be fun…

Thank God I have my newspaper coming out that day and an AP Bio test. Otherwise I would be going crazy!

Ugh my math final is on Dec 15…don’t know how the hell in the world I can sit still the night before trying to cram last minute equations while thinking about decisions coming out the next day…

This year a whooole bunch of people from my school applied EA to Yale (I can think of 10 n the top of my head). And it doesn’t help that I can bet money on this one person being accepted. :’(

I’m trying to occupy myself and forget about Dec. 15 but now that I found this thread…hehe…T___T. A bunch of people around me have applied ED to a variety of schools, so I’m preparing for emotional rollercoasters for the next few weeks. It’s great :|

So we should expect about half of applicants to be deferred? Then among these, would their acceptance rate be slightly higher than RD applicants? I would be pleasantly shocked if I were accepted next week, and I’ll be content with a deferral so I can turn in perfect S7 grades in a rigorous course load.

I think historically it’s been that deferred applicants are at no advantage during the regular round :(

Once deferred, the acceptance rate is slightly lower than the rest of the pool (based on numbers from CC). I’m not sure where the thread is, but it’s probably linked in the stickied thread.
