Yale 2016 SCEA Discussion Thread

^ I feel 100% of what you just said :(

Wow, this thread seems super alive! Good luck from all of us over at the Brown Board!!!

anyone else log into the Eli account everyday just to see the same thing over and over again? Come on bulldog, we’re waiting for you!

I kind of hate how Yale has this super special way of accepting people with the bulldog song thing because it makes it easier to imagine getting in >.<

Four days…

Yale said it’d accept 650-750 SCEA applicants out of the 4310 that applied
(~15-17%).
Anyone want to guess how many it’ll end up accepting?

Also… Stanford’s SCEA acceptance rate was 12.8%
So, let’s just be thankful Yale is a bit more generous. :)

^ saw this post coming. Thanks for the daily countdown update…

It’s actually four days and fifteen hours :stuck_out_tongue:
I’m being super precise with this :(

I estimate something like 730, but that’s not really based off of anything in particular haha I reread my essays and my app – I tell myself it’s okay if I don’t get in, but want to get in pretty bad :/

they should just fill their freshman class with SCEA =] who cares about RD?!! I wish you got into colleges based on how badly you wanna go there

What scares me a little bit is that, if you look at the Darmouth, Columbia, Cornell, Stanford and Penn Early Decisions threads, you will notice a very “interesting” trend - most of the accepted people are not stellar academically, but have major hooks - URM’s, legacies and recruited athletes dominate totally.

amk that’s a plus in my direction - I’m no V or got 2380 or something on my SATs, but I do have a strong extracurricular set, plus own my own business

Notice that I didn’t mention co-curricular activities. If it were about that, I wouldn’t worry either because I am internationally recognized in several areas…

It seems to me though that URM’s (which I am not), legacies (which I am not either) and recruited athletes (which again I am not) have been given an edge in the early process, which does worry me. I hope Yale will not follow Columbia and Dartmouth in that sense. :)

It’s my guess that they will accept on the lower end of 650-750. Given that Harvard and Princeton have reinstated their early programs, Yale can expect more students to matriculate. Since they accepted on the higher end of 750 in the past, I would guess that they would accept closer to 650 this year. Just a guess though.

I didn’t see that tidbit about how many people they’ll take. That extra 1-3% somehow males me feel a lot better :stuck_out_tongue: (which is sad). I also had such a realistic dream that I got in last night then I woke up and realized it didn’t happen (which is even more sad)

Over-represented majorities, non-legacies, not recruited athletes, holla!

@RadSquared that happened to me two days ago!!!

Holla @sfaitht7!! @UM: isn’t it the WORST thing??

…dude, I feel as if you’re right. Either that or increase the number of deffered to bolster the regular decision pool. That would be scary… Unless I got in lol

@benfranklin’s post I mean ^^^
