Yale 2016 SCEA Discussion Thread

So who hasn’t gotten their Eli Account?

I have yet to get my Eli Account info

I think Yale must have been swamped with apps the last couple of days before deadline, and they just need time to assign the Eli Accts. No worries.

S2 Interview tomorrow. I wish him good luck.

I haven’t gotten my Eli account info yet, but I submitted my application last-minute so I’m not surprised.

did everyone receive a letter that said “we are writing to congratulate you on your academic achievements thus far” ?

I just want some confirmation of the notion that this is meaningless :)

I haven’t gotten my Eli Account either (lol submitted day before deadline so it’s expected ahahaha) but as 9help9 said they’re probably swamped at the moment. We can just chill until then :)

I submitted October 31 at noon (3 EST) so I like to think I was on the front end of the rush and I have not received anything. I am hoping I get something early this week.

tylrrvera - Yeah, I received that same letter in the mail today. Seems meaningless to me. :)

I also got that same letter, so it’s probably nothing special. :)

No trivial letter, sadface!

But in all seriousness, I submitted October 30, and have yet to receive an Eli Account/Interview anything, so they’re just getting through it. When do interviews have to be conducted by?

I just received an email from my Yale interviewer! My interview is scheduled for next Monday. She said that it will be held in her workplace office, lasting about an hour. Is it just me, or does that sound like a really tense setting? She did mention that it would be relatively informal, but oh boy…

Submitted app on 10/30/11. Contacted for interview on 11/7/11. No Eli Acct info received yet.

Congrats Allnighter! Don’t worry you’ll be fine. I had an interview and it truly is an informal, very laid back experience! My interviewer was really nice and held conversation really well. We seemed to be interested in the same kinds of things and it was like talking to a friend over coffee. My point is, you’ll be great! Just remain calm (:

My interview is tomorrow… And is khakis and a sweater too casual for an interview in an alum’s house?

No - I’m sure your interviewer will be dressed just the same (or something quite similar).

I applied SCEA and just got my ACT scores but no essay. Should I email Yale and tell them I got my scores but the score report, even though it’s set to be sent, won’t be sent yet as the essay is still pending?

I just wanted to ask you guys what do you think about this:
The finance manager at my school found out I was applying to Yale and so he thought it might be helpful to contact this Yale-alum-friend-of-his…well, what the said alum obviously emailed him was this: “I am not officially doing interviews, but if she wants to talk or meet, I would be happy to. I still come to Prague fairly often. If she contacts Yale and they say they would like a local alumnus to interview her, I would be happy to do that as well.”
That…could be awesome, given I don’t really know of a Yale interviewer in Prague. Then again, isn’t it pretty weird to just email Yale’s admission office saying “Oh hai, so I found this person who once went to Yale, can he just interview me, pretty pretty please?” From what I know, they either contact you or they don’t and you cannot really influence that; on the other hand, they may not be aware they have an alum who is technically willing to do and interview…
Well, it is probably really weird and probably not of the greatest significance, so I’ll probably leave it as it is, but just wondered if you guys had any similar experience or what do you think in general :)

@JanaCZ - I think that would be kind of cool if you contacted Yale saying that lol. I think it would show your interest in Yale…even though applying SCEA technically shows that … but still…

Still no Eli account… :frowning:
Also, can I send in an optional report with my first quarter grades? And can that be done via the common app?

forever1 - Thanks for all the tips! Hopefully mine will go as smoothly as your’s did. This is just my first college interview, so I will probably over-worry and such.
