Yale 2016 SCEA Discussion Thread

Eli account received this morning - submitted Nov. 2nd in the morning.

I’m guessing I was on the later end of submitting.

Just in:Eli account! (applied on 1st, so…)
Oh my, this is getting too real and scary oO

Just got my Eli account too (applied the 1st as well). That’s a relief lol

Submitted app the 29th… Eli Account e-mailed to me today!!

Got my Eli Account today! :)

Got my Eli account today too, applied November 2nd!

Got my Eli account info this morning! :)

I also got my Eli Account today! Looks like this is really happening, folks!

I received my Eli account today as well. Oct. 31 submitted. Judging by all of the dates on here, I would assume that everyone should have been contacted about getting an account.

Have any of you that got your email today as well been contacted for an interview? I’m guessing probably not, but just thought I would ask…
Also, for anyone else that has been contacted for an interview, were you contacted over the phone or through e-mail?

I still have not been contacted for an interview but my friends who have said they received phone calls.

Eli today, no interview yet.

Same – Eli account today, no interview. The Eli Account just made everything more tangible… and they haven’t received my scores yet, is that normal? And I only took two subject tests, is that going to hurt me at all?

I was contacted for an interview two days ago by phone. Eli was received today.

I sent mine middle of October and they were displayed. Probably just takes time to process, depending on when you sent them. And no, that won’t hurt you, as thats the required amount.

Hey hey, got my Eli account today too!

Does anyone have any idea what percentage of applicants get an interview? I live in the suburbs outside D.C., so I imagine there should be plenty of alums–and yet, no interview yet.

Also, you guys wanna exchange tips for interviews? I did one recently for another school, and learned that it’s not that easy to just “wing it.” I thought I could go in, just be myself and answer the questions truthfully, but honestly I wish I had looked at some generally-used questions beforehand. There were quite a few “uhhhhh” moments and long, awkward pauses… haha

Yeah I don’t think I’ll be taking a third subject test >.> I think the difference is too minimal to matter at this point. I sent my scores with the free report including my November subject test, does that mean they won’t send any of my scores until after Nov. scores come out, or are my scores now showing up just because of processing?

I posted this on a chain about interviews. But since my son applied SCEA, I thought I would re-post here as well. Perhaps as a warning about the inconsitency of alumni interviewers

My son had a great on campus interview. then he was contacted by an alum from our town (whom we do not know). He had that interview today and the guy was a pompous jerk. He spent most of the interview talking about himself, told my son nothing about Yale. He didnt give my son a chance to answer any questions nor did he ask him if he had any questions. When my son expressed an interest in Politics he started quizzing him on economics and economic policy. My son is bright and personable and follows the news and reads tons of books, etc but he is still a 17 year old! If he had all the answers he wouldn’t want to go and learn at Yale, would he??

My son applied SCEA and has been so excited about and focused on Yale. This guy was so rude that my son now wished he applied ED to Brown instead. It is so disheartening. He was so excited to have another chance to talk about Yale and to share his enthusiasm and now he feels stupid for even meeting with this guy. When all of this is over, where ever he winds up, I plan to write to the Admission person for our area to let her know how inappropriate this guy was.

seems like a couple people got contacted through phone calls for alum interview!
i submitted my app mid-late december
an alum contacted me a couple days later through email

and lemonlover i totally agree.
my first interview i went in and decided that i could just be myself and know for sure why i loved that school
haha…not that easy:)

thankfully my yale one went a bit better because it was my second

*mid-late october, sorry

my mind is in december 15th mode…lol
