I just wanted to pop in and wish you all luck. In two weeks all of the stress and waiting will be over and you will all know where it is that you may be headed. I know its a hard wait but everyone lands where they are meant to be. Many of you will be disappointed and feel a little lost but don’t do that to yourself. Don’t let a school define who you are and all you have accomplished- you can be that best version of you anywhere. This is not the end of your journey. It is just a means to get there. Get rest, enjoy your friends and these last days of your senior year. Focus on the positive things you want to accomplish in life. Keep your eye on the end goal of who you want to be and think of college as just a stepping stone. You will not only survive the next two weeks but you will survive the outcome no matter what it may be.
Didn’t get an interview, dead?
@tku980 no, interviews count for very little in the decision making process. Is it true that deferred applicants get a definitive answer come Ivy Day?
Any Yale interviewers from India?
Yes B-)
@emli8100 Thank you. My chances of being admitted are slim but it’s good to have hope.
@emli8100 all of the SCEA deferred had their files added to those that applied RD. So I guess you could say that if you did not get accepted SCEA then you automatically became RD. All applications will get an answer on Ivy Day. Not necessarily definitive though. Some will get offered a spot on a wait list. In some ways that is like a rejection because it’s so rare to come off of the wait list but that is your choice to make if that should happen.
I just received a Skype interview invitation. I thought decisions are already pretty much made, aren’t they? What’s the point of having an interview so late in the process? Is their goal to write “99% of our applicants had interviews” or something?
Forgive me if this question has already been asked a thousand times. My eyes ache and I can’t bear to look through old threads :c
@imponderable I think that might actually be a good sign. It shows that you’re not one of the applicants who they outright discarded. I think it means that they’re seriously considering you.
Is it too late to send an update about a cool internship I’m doing (and would this be a worthwhile update)?
I think it probably would be. Can’t hurt.
Just curious but what’s everyone’s safety schools? Mine are UCD, UCB, UCLA, and UCSC (I’m from California).
Mine were UF, UM, and FSU (since I live in Florida).
SUNY SB and Smith College
Berkeley is your safety? lol
Does anyone know if having an older sibling graduate helps your chances? My older brother graduated from Yale last year. We have identical applications but I had a 34 act to his 33 and he had a slightly higher gpa.
It probably helps, but I really don’t know how much. In any case, good luck!
My safety schools are Barnard, Wellesley, Smith and Howard.
My safety is NYU and Northeastern U
Mine are Santa Clara and Northeastern (admitted to both already).
