Yale 2021 Applicants

@AznDude525 To clarify, you have already found someone without a LL that could log in? Or you found someone with a LL that could log in?

I have an IRL friend that got an LL letter. I saw him log into his account using that admitted students link, and it showed the acceptance information. Sorry, I misread ammielove’s post.

Although my essays were unique. I’ll be honest, I’ll be lucky if I even get on the WL

What is the point of Ivy Day (March 30,2017) if you can find out your admit status early ? IT folks are smart and they will not load data into backend database until Ivy day (March 30, 2017). The portal needs to be updated for everyone to see the admit decision.

@grtd2010, the backdoor paths to getting early notification are embarrassing for IT. That’s not to say that they don’t make mistakes.

As the parent of a Yale junior admitted SCEA, I know it’s easy for me to say, but I do think that this obsessive worrying and “needing” to know early isn’t helpful for the students.

We only saw the Pomona link on the day when the results came, so the decisions were most likely out (but hidden) on the portal by that date. We’re still 10 days away from Ivy Day.

Yale already made this mistake last year, though, where students went on the admitted portal a couple hours before decisions were released, so they might have fixed it for this year.

Even if they haven’t, I am 99.99% sure they won’t let you access it an entire ten days before decision date

Yale called my school about two weeks ago with a scholarship I should apply for. Do you think that is a good sign?

@Princessem I can’t imagine it’s a bad one ^^

@cody27 same

I’m just wondering if it suggests serious consideration or if I’m reading too much into it. Hard not to, I guess.

Does anybody know if Yale has a GPA cutoff? I know it says on the website that there is no GPA cutoff, but I’ve been getting rejected from quite a few schools that have higher acceptance rates than Yale, and I’m pretty sure it’s because of my GPA. I have a 3.68 GPA and am in the top 15% of my class. Thanks!

@ILoveStanford No, it doesn’t. They evaluate holistically, which means that your GPA, test scores, etc, are evaluated along with your essay and rec letters. You will likely never know why you were rejected from those schools, because almost all schools do holistic evaluations, so it could be anything, really.

I loged into the portal today
https://apps.admissions.yale.edu/account/login?r=https://apps.admissions.yale.edu/portal/admits
Then got the following message:
403 Forbidden
This Portal is only for admitted students

Can you guys try to log into the portal? if yes, what message do you get?

@luck2017
luck2017 you are not authorized to access this page is what http code 403 means. Are you already admitted by SCEA or likely letter ? This is a correct response.

No, I am RD (not SCEA) and didn’t receive likely letter either. My declared major is Linguistics in my Yale Regular Decision application. However, I received Alumni interview notification e-mail in middle January (after 2 weeks submitted application). I am in Dallas, Texas.

Just wanted to add my name to the list of RD non-likely letter applicants who were unable to log in to the portal. Can anyone else give it a try?

@Princessem If u haven’t already, can u try to login to the portal? If Yale called u about the scholarship then it’s likely you’ll be admitted. Therefore, if it doesn’t let u in with this link, then the rest of us are probably ok.

I am a LL admit and can login to the portal to see my admission info. I asked the AO who contacted me about my LL and he said only SCEA and LL admits can currently see their admissions portal, and all RD admits will be able to see it once decisions are released on march 30th.

This is not unique. For example, there is a link on the Harvard homepage that says “admitted students” that any person can go to but only admitted students can login to-but only after their decision has been released.
