@ammielove I am in the same boat as you. Thrilled to be accepted, crushed that I won’t be able to afford it. I may try appealing as well. Please let me know if you have any success
Accepted!
I can’t seem to log into my Yale portal? Anyone having difficulties with this? Help would be much appreciated
ACCEPTED…1300 SAT + International
Never listen to the naysayers!
I Was accepted and I’m in complete shock right now. My stats are pretty low for Yale, only a 31 on the ACT and a 720 for BIO M, so I wasn’t expecting anything and was just about ready to commit to Ga Tech but I got in! I was rejected from vandy, Washu, Hopkins, and Princeton and waitlisted from Chicago. Honestly, I feel like I’m dreaming. This whole college admissions is really a crapshoot but I’m soooo excited nevertheless.
Accepted!!! Holy crap I can’t believe it. Yale was my first choice and they rarely accept anyone from my school. omg
Waitlisted as an international. Not giving up hope just yet!
WAITLISTED

Assistant Manager working at my parents’ store over the summers for 4 years (really enjoyed this, wrote an essay about it)
Volunteer/internship at local free clinic
President of my school’s science club - we did the science olympiad, the envirothon, and a bunch of other small competitions
Ultimate Frisbee - just a regular club sport but I had a ton of fun with it
Public Relations officer for SGA - tons of volunteer work/coordinating school events
Vice President of NHS - organized various campaigns for our school
President of AVID Tutoring Program - tutored students twice a week and worked to recruit other tutors.
President/Founder of Debate Club - we met to discuss political issues (the 2016 election was a pretty great time for this club)
I applied for different majors at every school, but I put either math or chemical engineering for about half of them.
I wrote my commonapp essay about being an atheist and always feeling the need to keep quiet about it, and tied that in with the reason I created my school’s debate club (to give people the ability to speak/be heard)
For the obligatory “elaborate on an extracurricular” essay, I wrote about organizing tournaments at my parents’ store and my overall experience working over the summers.
Race: white
Gender: male
Income bracket: my EFC was in the low 40 thousands, but my parents have never told us how much money we make.
YO I ALMOST DIDN’T SUBMIT MY APP BC I THOUGHT IT WASN’T “YALE MATERIAL” BUT THEN I GOT WAITLISTED
I wrote my “Why Yale” essay on how I love the idea of chicken tender thursday & my video supplement involved my friend eating a napkin.
Don’t ever let your doubts stop you from trying. Even if you’re a nervous junior reading over these threads thinking “wow, there’s no way I’ll ever stand a chance at yale” (yes, I’m talking to you) just shoot for it. Ya never know what might happen
btw congrats to everyone who got accepted today. You rock!
Deferred EA and then rejected. Congrats to everyone!

Rejected- congratulations to everyone, you deserve it!!
@Tperry1982 @tdy123 thank you guys for the information! Do you know how exactly I go about appealing? Email/call? And Tperry you say that the request should come from my parents? Would you please tell me more about your own experience. Hopefully the ““matching”” other ivies thing is true as I have an offer from Columbia with $13k more aid ($8k lower net cost).
@panic2017 heya yeah it really sucks! I’m not really sure what to do but I know I need to appeal this decision. The net cost is more than a third of my net household income! And I have 2 siblings, one of who will be in university when I start and my other will start soon too!
I’m facing the same issue ^^^ albeit with Princeton, the net expected family contribution is also a third of my household’s income.
@winterkomt i really do wonder what they think is full demonstrated need? i thought HYP were supposed to be the most generous!
Hey does the admit site not work for anyone else? The one in the offer letter.
@ammielove the admit site doesn’t work on my end either. I think we’ll be able to sign in once we get the official log-ins, in a about a week for ea admits and much later for rd’s.
Waitlisted
Unweighted GPA: 3.4
ACT: 32
Race: Asian
EC: Varsity Soccer, Varsity Hockey (captain), Varsity Volleyball. NHS. Student Government.
I really doubt if they are need blind for internationals. It cannot be sheer coincidence that only upper class or rich get into Yale and Harvard from India, and can be validated by statistics. is there any organization that monitors these schools who claim to be need blind?
@intellectboy Yale is one of only five schools that is genuinely need blind for internationals. I was admitted and I hadn’t submitted my CSS profile or accompanying documents, need I mention that I’m an international applicant?!
