Yale 2022 Applicants Discussion

Submitted all of my RD applications, now the wait till March begins. Good luck! :smiley:

@18YearsASlav Yeah! haha

Good luck to everyone who just applied RD!!! Hope to see all of you at Bulldog Days!

Uhh so someone emailed me for an interview (she said her boss wanted to interview with me) but never responded after I emailed her. When should I email her back? Or should I just not worry about it? I donā€™t want to be negatively affected by this. Itā€™s been a week since I emailed her back.

Give a polite email now just saying something like ā€œHello I was just following up to ensure you received my email that Iā€™d love to have an interview with X. i look forward to hearing from you, kind regards,xā€

When do interview requests usually stop?

How many people have gotten interview requests? Because I havenā€™t.

I havenā€™t.

I havenā€™t either.

Hey applied RD too :slight_smile:

Wishing yā€™all good luck :wink:

@MaybeHarvard2022
I think what you are doing is very disturbing. You got into Harvard and now you are applying to a whole bunch of ivies and other schools like Rice and UT.

Did anyone here have there teachers submit their Yale rec letters through the mail? One of my teachers submitted his rec letter through naviance and my other teacher had to submit it through mail. When i check my application portal, it says that they havenā€™t received the letter that my teacher mailed in yet. my teacher said she submitted it back about 3 weeks ago. Should i be worried?

On the other hand, if he isnā€™t happy with his financial aid statement from Harvard, they will reconsider if another top tier college comes up with a higher amount of money. So it can be fiscally intelligent to apply to multiple top tier institutions if your EFC is higher than 0 but lower than full pay.

@dochouse I can apply to whatever school I like, and FYI i applied to Rice and UT before decisions came out :slight_smile:

@dochouse Your kids are already in college; you donā€™t need to parent anyone on here. I got into Stanford, but that doesnā€™t mean Iā€™ll ignorantly choose only one school, so I stand in solidarity with kids who apply even after getting into one school. Iā€™ll let you know that I actually applied to over 20 schools, and there is nothing you can do about that. We are breaking no rules, and we are doing no wrong. You know, some people have to apply to multiple schools in order to compare financial aid and the like. But it doesnā€™t even matter if I apply to all Ivys just to say that I got into all Ivys-- itā€™s none of your business. I digress though; I received a Yale interview request the week before Christmas, so it may just be going out randomly.

@dochouse
No one cares that you think @MaybeHarvard2022ā€™s actions are very disturbing. What I find disturbing is your need to comment on how other peopleā€™s decisions without being aware of their personal situations or their reasoning. Stop being rude and keep your thoughts to yourself. No one asked you for them.

@colorfulhuman They wonā€™t hold it against you if your teacher mailed in the rec and it comes in late. However, I would be sure to call the admissions office and ask them about the status of the letter. If push comes to shove, you should also follow up with the teacher that wrote the rec and get them to upload and send it through the CA. And yes, you probably should be worried.

@dochouse Haha @MaybeHarvard2022 can apply wherever he likes, man. Could be he had his heart set on another college and serendipitously got into Harvard. Could be heā€™s doing what everyone else on this forum is doing, and applying to anywhere and everywhere. Either way, he isnā€™t hurting anyone else by doing so, and itā€™s his/her prerogative.

@MaybeHarvard2022 and @univbound101 first of all, congratulations on ur college application results so far. Sorry that I chime in here, the forum is for us to learn from each other, so thank u for ur inputs.

I think it is valid for anyone to apply to multiple schools to compare and choose, esp for financial aids/scholarship money and it is much more effective to ask Yale to match Harvardā€™s FA offers if they r meaningfully different.

That being said, we all know that the college application process is getting crazier each year, esp at the tipsy top where getting accepted sometimes almost felt like winning a lottery. And one of the main reasons, is kids r applying to too many schools. I think the idea of applying to all Ivies so that u can brag about it, is really sad.

U will have a shiny degree from an uber competitive university, job well done there! But there wonā€™t be one for getting accepted into all Ivies. And u really could not put that ā€œachievementā€ into ur CV, ever! If u did, it would be pathetic to anyone who read ur resume.

@makemesmart Thank you for your concern. I didnā€™t apply to all the Ivies (only 5), although i intended to when i was a less wise junior. Iā€™ve worked hard to get to where I am, and being accepted to Harvard didnā€™t make me complacent since I wasnā€™t sure it would be the BEST school for me even though I thought it was. Therefore, I applied to the schools I was genuinely interested in and poured out everything into my essays. So far, it has paid off (likely letter from Rice), and even if I donā€™t get admitted to the other schools I applied to, Iā€™ll be content with the fact that I gave it everything I had. Iā€™m not going to let anyone dictate where I should apply because theyā€™re insecure of their own chances. If youā€™re a competitive applicant, colleges will recognize it.
