Guys it’s giving me anxiety that my interviewer will have to drive 3+ hours both ways to interview me. Why would they assign me to someone so far away? It’s such an inconvenience to her and I feel bad.
@ski_racer well if relocation is still an option, meet her halfway through, atleast that would give you pain sharing comfort.
@PPofEngrDr That’s a really good idea except there’s nothing but truck stops, cattle, and BLM land between my town and hers.
@ski_racer skype interviews are an option, but if they’re willing to drive out, just apologize for the unfortunately long drive, and thank them. They must really care!
@ski_racer well that shows spirit on interviewer side, my dc had missed early interaction in my region last year and now it become wait forever. Happy for you to get an interview, i am sure you will make worth her driving.
hello everyone! I’ve applied to Yale and done my interview. I have just been offered an internship position at a very prestigious organization for a month in the Summer and I am also currently applying for a couple sustainability short programs that will take place over the summer. Should I submit an update to my application to Yale with this information? Do you think it would help improve my chances of getting in (I have good grades and lots of extra-curriculars already listed and discussed in my application)?
Update : No interview yet…
hi everyone! happy saturday (or sunday depending where you reside). Is anyone going to YES weekend/bulldog days? If so, can the travel stipend be applied to my parent’s flight if my travel costs do not exceed the stipend amount? I realize now that i should probably ask my admissions officer about this
Don’t loose hope… I just got an email invite for a virtual interview with Yale senior.
“Given limited alumni availability in your area, we would like to invite you to interview virtually with a current Yale senior through the Yale Admissions Senior Interviewing Program.”
@ski_racer as you can see from my various posts I am generally very conservative about interpreting any “tea leaves” that people will throw out here on this forum. In this case, you either have a very dedicated alumni interviewer willing to invest an entire day meeting you in person when interviewers are given an option to do in person or Skype type interviews and/or the interviewer was encouraged by the AO to meet you pretty late in the process. In either case make the most of this opportunity. Let us know how the interview goes and best of luck!
@SusChangeMaker I’d definitely update your app with the internship offer. I am not so sure about the applications unless it is consistent with the rest of your application (EC, essays, LoR’s). If you include the applications, make sure you lead with the internship offer in a separate paragraph. Good luck!
Just had my interview with senior alumni. She was very nice and helpful.
Still no interview… oh well
Me neither we will see! @MaybeHarvard2022
I didn’t get an interview either. Guess I’ll see what happens in March…
No interview. Norcal.
So I was wondering if updating my profile is worth it. I play varsity soccer and we recently won 1st place in our league. Also, I placed first in an fbla global business competition. If this would make any difference, how would I go about updating my profiles?
@ApexDude there’s a form in the portal to make updates
Hey guys! Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to improve my chances at this stage in the process? I heard that emailing your region’s admission officer can help you stand out. Is this true? If so, what should I email them about? Thank you and good luck to everyone!
@AnthonyZ there’s nothing you can really do IMO. If you’ve accomplished something significant since submitting your application you could update them on that through the form in the portal.
Yale admissions on student protests and the possible disciplinary action resulting from these protests in light of recent events–"…we have made clear that they [Yale applicants/prospective students] should feel free to participate in walkout events to bring attention to this issue without fear of repercussion. Yale will NOT be rescinding anyone’s admission decision for participating in peaceful walkouts for this or other causes, regardless of any high school’s disciplinary policy."
