My dad works at Yale, but as a research scientist, not a professor. Do you guys think that’ll help me?
Hey guys! Weird question to ask rn… but do Ivies send out likely letters to international students?
When I checked my portal I noticed that it no longer shows the materials that I have submitted. Is this happening to everybody?
Well, they can and have in the past. It does not mean they must, though.
My checklist has disappeared.
@MaybeHarvard2022 same… hope that’s a good thing
My checklist is gone too but we probably shouldn’t read too much into it and cause unnecessary stress and expectations. We’re hitting home stretch guys, stay strong!!! :)>-
My checklist was gone for Brown’s portal too, and over there it said they were removing the checklists to get ready to post the admissions decision. So based off of that, I think Yale is just doing that for everyone.
And @MyDogsNameIsFat I just saw your comment and realized you were from the Yale deferred thread!! Good luck to you:)
Ditto, checklist is gone.
@cardust Yep! I remember you too!!! I know before you said that your parents expect a lot from you, I can totally empathize since my dad is putting on sooo much pressure. I hope that this college admission season has been treating you well, and hopefully we all will be so lucky enough to become the Yale Class of 2022 together!
Hi guys, quick question to all of you. I was lucky enough to be admitted SCEA and am now deciding between Yale and Oxford. They are completely different schools not just geographically and I am struggling to make a decision. What would your inputs be?
I’m going to study Math + CS
@Euler6 - Congratulations on your admission to both universities! My son had a similar choice (but PPE) and he chose Yale. Is the Math + CS program a three or four year program? In my son’s case, the decision came down to the advantages offered by a four year, liberal arts program, which has allowed him to pursue a double major as well as participate in several extracurricular activities that are very important to him. He is completely happy with his decision since future graduate study at Oxford remains a possibility. Best of luck to you!
@Euler6 Congrats. I concur with @worriestoomuch and I likewise was in a similar positions, although at a different Ivy and a different Oxbridge school. My decision was made for the same reasons as @worriestoomuch 's son. But really, this is a decision that is personal, and you probably can’t go wrong either way. Good luck.
@MyDogsNameIsFat same to you!! And yeah, my parents are still expecting a lot lol…but in the end the college decisions are about us, not our parents. No matter where we end up going next year I’m sure it’ll be okay!
Good time for everyone to read NYT Columnist Frank Bruni’s ‘Where You Go Is Not Who You’ll Be’ book if you haven’t already.
@Abelo999 DS received a LL - we are international, we’re from Canada
I never received interview request, so this means I don’t have a chance of getting in. I live in an area where there are plenty of Alumni.
@Tangledfan not necessarily true, there are many people that get in without an interview. your area may be dense with alumni, but maybe their schedules were just too full. don’t read too much into not getting an interview
@Tangledfan or those alumni could’ve just opted out of wanting to conduct interviews
