^ ^^ Agree with BK. IDOC form requests have the goal of you getting your stuff uploaded so that they can give you an early FA estimate if needed.
Replace âtoo muchâ in the above sentence with âanything.â
Hello! I have received an offer for an interview
I feel as though this is a silly question, but Iâll be asking it regardless. I know decisions for EA come out somewhere around Dec 14, and my interviewer offered to interview in that same week. Does the fact that the interview is so close to the decisions date mean Iâm probably not going to be accepted this round? Or am I going too far
Iâm not an expert but from reading the thread it seems like you canât read into anything. Think about it, if there was a way to predict your admissions decision early, someone on CC would have already done it
@goodoltime , I think it just shows how little weight interviews carry. We were suppose to get in all EA reports by 12/1.
at the same time though, I canât imagine they would be offered one right now if they werenât still in consideration?
If the interviewer is not pressing to get the interview done now, not the week of decisions, how critical can it be? On rare occasions, I have heard of interviewers (not happened to me) being asked to rush interview and get a report in for a specific candidate who must be on some bubble. @goodoltime should definitely try to schedule his/her interview sooner rather than later and do his/her best to leave a favorable impression, but people just read too much into some of this stuff. It is counter productive to get too optimistic or too pessimistic at this point. Fact is, the vast majority of candidates will be deferred or rejected and the vast majority of those candidates will end up at a fabulous alternative school.
^ @dreamthief001 The interviewer wouldnât even have that info. And who knows when @goodoltimeâs name was sent to the appropriate alum. association, when it was forwarded to the interviewer and when the interviewer was finally able to make time for the interview. These are a standard part of the application process, regardless of the outcome.
What possible reasons are there as to why the interviewer would be doing the interview past the date that EA reports should be submitted?
^Not all interviewers âget the memoâ. There are about 6,000 of us; not everyone dials into the training webinar or reads the Orientation piece in depth. I suspect âOld Bluesâ who have done this the longest are probably the worst in being current (see the posts about interviews at homes, which is now against policy but was SOP years ago). Also remember the interviews are also used as info/PR tools for Yale and a way to engage alums. It goes to the point that the interviews, while evaluative, are unlikely determinative. I am sure the AOâs will read reports submitted after the deadline, especially if the applicant is truly a borderline case, and in the case of applicants whose reports were not read by the decision date, they will be read during the RD phase if they were deferred. I am pretty confident that anyone rejected in the early round would have been rejected even with the most glowing interview report.
I havenât gotten any messages from the financial aid office. No confirmation they got my stuff or a request for IDOC. is this a bad sign for admissions? sorry for sounding so worried
If you uploaded on IDOC you can check there to see if theyâve received your stuff. Thatâs what we do.
@BKSquared are you getting annoyed reading the questions of eager stressed students?
^Lol, I understand completely. My kids went through this just a few years ago. I am just trying to give info as I know it to try to take the anxiety down a notch.
Got it lol
Yale require all test scores to be reported?( exam taken way too many times) Can I just report my highest score Since they offer self reporting on common app
Can I some how bypass reporting all scores?
You cannot bypass. You must report all scores from either an SAT or an ACT unless the test was taken prior to 9th grade. If you wish to submit both an SAT and an ACT, you must report all scores from both tests. You may self-report all your scores using the Yale supplement to the CA unless you are an international student, in which case you must have your scores sent from the testing agency.
Hope thatâs clear. Please be sure to check Yaleâs admissions website for specifics - particularly the sections on standardized testing and score reporting.
^ Thatâs true for the SAT I / ACT, but for subject tests (some people call them SAT IIs) you can use score choice (aka you can report only certain scores). From Yaleâs website: âYale does participate in Score Choice for the reporting of SAT Subject Tests. Applicants may choose which, if any, SAT Subject Test scores to send to Yale, whether or not the applicant sends SAT or ACT scores.â
Tl;dr You can use score choice for subject tests but not the SAT I/ACT
I donât understand why you would say Yale ârequiresâ and then try to bypass the policies. The rules are pretty clear on the website. Iâm sure many students wish they could report only their highest scores.
Can you? Yes. You have free will. Should you just violate their policies? IDK, do you want your 5% chance of admission to go down to 0.0%?
