Yale and the new SAT mixed with old SATs

hey everyone,

do you know if yale will look at, say, a math and writing score from the new SAT I and a reading score from the old SAT I? what's the deal with mixing and matching?

yes, it is perfectly legit to mix and match.

No, 20/20, I think you're just thinking of scores from different testings of the SAT I -- i.e. you can put together your two highest scores, but I'm not sure that applies to the new SAT. Since the sections underwent some restoration (e.g. elimination of analogies), I would think that they wouldn't treat them as equals.

Their site is not conclusive: <a href="http://www.yale.edu/admit/freshmen/application/testing.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.yale.edu/admit/freshmen/application/testing.html</a></p>

The yale site directly states:
"For students who will graduate high school in 2006, we encourage you to take the new SAT, though we will accept scores from the old SAT as well. We will continue to consider the highest score you receive on any individual test, even if one score was from the old SAT and one was from the new SAT. Regardless of whether you take the old or new SAT, you will still need to submit the scores from three SAT II tests. Students who will graduate high school in 2006 will be permitted to submit the SAT II Writing exam as one of the three required SAT II exams, regardless of whether they submit the old or new SAT."

hope that clears up things.

Oh, okay. My bad.

I know I'm going a tangent, but--if an individuals elects to take the ACT in lieu of the SAT--is Yale still saying yes to three SAT II's? Has the quota been dropped to two--none? Ugh, what's the deal?
