I apologize if this has already been asked, and maybe I missed something in the supplement, but I didn't see any place to attach a photo of yourself. If I'm correct, did anyone send in one anyway? thanks and good luck to everyone.

The only school that I applied to that asked for a photo was Penn and I can say that it took my hours to photoshop a good one for them. (Not photoshopping myself but the background so I would hate it for other schools asked for a picture.) Besides applications are meant to reveal who you are I doubt a picture will do much. Also Yale does not ask for a photo.

I would send several portraits just in case.

Haha I would make sure to realize that awaiting is being sarcastic

My D attached a photo to all of her applications last year, including her Yale app.

Yale definitely does not require a photo. Maybe you're confusing it with student IDs? I know that after you're admitted and accept the offer, they need a photo for a student ID. But not when you're applying; don't worry about it.

Send in a baby picture.

Kidding!

Why would you ask this? Do you expect people to admit you because you are hot or what?

I did have a friend though who declined to send a pic to Georgetown b/c she put down Hispanic (I think she is like 1/4 or 1/2 Mexican) yet looks like a normal whitey.

well, i heard, back in the 60's, physical attraction is one of the rating categories for alumni interview, i'm sure it's still true to some extend when u interview. I mean, people are just subcouciously nicer to hot attractions

EliHopeful07:

I was not being sarcastic, I'm having portraits taken for my college applications because they REQUIRE a set of photographs.

yep, he's being sarcastic

sending a picture if youre attractive (male or female) is only a plus. puts a face to the awesome awards and scores they see on paper.

however, idk how one would send a picture if it is not asked for on the application if they are not sending supp materials....which is how i sent mine...

Actually, I would say that being ugly would give you a better advantage. Basically, this is because intelligence is inversely related to beauty, perceptively. So I would think that a really hot person is less smart compared to an extremely ugly person.

Hey, just wanted to make sure I didn't miss something. Don't care either way. Thanks to those who sent positive responses though.

I've always wondered about the interviewer thing. I know that it's not like if you're really amazingly hot the interviewer is going to say "OH MY GOD, LET THIS PERSON IN!!!," but the thing that people are subconsciously evaluated on terms of their looks is probably true.

So I guess that means that, basically, if you look really pretty at your interview, you'll get in. :)

no, but you'll make a better first impression if you look polished (read: not necessarily pretty but put-together) which will help

Many international schools (my only evidence being U of Cambridge but I assume Oxford and others as well) ask for pictures, so it is only logical to presume that American colleges would as well. Luckily (or not), they don't generally.
